If you could speak the Nile, tells of a legendary city and surprising, the fulcrum of Islamic civilization and beyond. Cairo is the most populous city in Africa, the thirteenth in the world .. a world apart.
Its roots are entwined in the caves of a distant memory and inaccessible, which is why we, incredulous layman, the Pharaonic civilization fascinates us but at the same time leaves us astonished.
Are incomprehensible in their magnificent pyramids, monsters of rock formations just regular, a funerary monuments glorious sovereign power and the boundless desert which surrounded them.
Kefren, Cheops, Micerino .. three pyramids reminiscent costruzioni fiction, extraterresti unpredictable in their architecture. And then the Sphinx, humanoid creature that seems to watch over something or someone, who knows the mystery. The Pharaonic civilization is an infinite sequence of dynasties and rulers, each has left on these lands unmistakable signs of absolute power.
If the Nile could talk, explain how in a small corner, south of the town is hiding timidly Cairo Coptic. One clove of Christianity within time Muslim, a proud but ruined stones. The Coptic Cairo is a quiet and silent, the time seems stopped in the days of bloody persecution, the hiding places of luck and faith impossible. Orthodox Christians, persecuted by the various caliphs, were hidden here in this corner Suspended symbolized by the Church, an ancient cathedral and a small "hold" on an old Roman colonnade, cozy niche of faith preserved.
Alongside these are the small communities of St. George and St. Sergius, but churches desecrated sacred seat this last of the sacristy, where it is said, lived during a time the Holy Family.
If you could speak the Nile, tells of sultans cruel and wicked, of large-scale killing, unspeakable torture, harassment endless. Unmistakable signs of this are the sovereignty incorruptible majestic mosques of Cairo, whose minarets seem to warn visitors to be in front of the cradle of Islamic civilization, the place where the Koran has been studied, disseminated, interpreted and whether the verb.
Absolute epicenter is the mosque of Al-Azar, building an impressive architectural beauty, here where students from around the Islamic world are still learning, listening, writing and studying. Universities like the old Cairo, center of faith and secular fascinating. Here we are in the Islamic Cairo, lapped by the megalomaniac Egyptian bazaar with the scents, colors, medieval stone arches, the sound of his trade, the cries of vendors, the imprecations of consumers. A whirlwind that has something in the old authentic and untraceable. Drinking tea, sit and admire this coming and going of people, cows, cats, fabrics, dishes, spices, gold, silver, souvenirs Tarocchi, inflated prices .. the wonder!
If the Nile could talk, to tell the Sultan Al-Hakim, one of the most cruel of all, a mad bloodthirsty belonging to the dynasty of Mammelucchi. We explain how to running the streets of the bazaar in hand a huge man of color and enjoyed the anal pounded in public its victims ... Tell how Mohammed Ali, who has devoted the most magnificent mosques in the city, was murdered after 50 mammelucchi invited to his party, after the balls, orgie, the food offered, pitiless hospitality.
But the Nile is certainly talk about the infinite sweetness of this people and Misrepresentation battle, but gentle and harmonious. The smiles and the beauty of its ancestral women veiled, hidden under long shador that reveal dark and captivating charm. Winking eyes, mouths of cherry, revealing capriccio locks, insulting, subtle and hidden anxieties.
At the end of the Nile could also dwell a moment on its grandeur, its evident in the huge massacres, blushing for his immense goodness, how many crops saved, how much food offered disasters but also those, how many lives dragged away, along the road that leads to immense necropoli sand.
The Nile is the true master of this place millennial, where the weight of history is so suffocating that, faced with the gold mask of Tutankhamen in the magnificent Egyptian Museum, you can remain affected by a strange syndrome, a sense of latent mazes, too much magic in the whole moment.

Finally, perhaps the Nile spend some word to myself, this came to Egypt on tiptoe, and without too many pretensions, without noise, but soon was in ecstasy, with many memories and so many dreams. Would be a nice gift to bring with me ...

Good trip
