El Quseir - Egypt -

13/4-20/4/2008

Sometimes it is also a short trip to regenerate a bit 'and detach from the usual routine.
The choice this time fell on El Quseir, Egypt's location on the African coast between Hurghada and Marsa Alam, now that the Sharm has become a little-known 'as Oregon ...
El Quseir is a small village remained as Sharm twenty years ago apart from the shopkeepers who have learned well and call in any language to sell their goods.
Departure is from Bologna with Air Memphis (Egypt Company) on 13 April at 13.15 and after 3 hours and 45 minutes flight to Hurgada us (how nice there are 29 degrees !!!), then the bus brings us to our Village booked with "The journeys of Turquoise" Flamenco Beach Resort. After about 1 hour and 30 minutes after we arrive and unload your luggage will go to dinner: I would say really good first impression. Now room unpack and then to bed ... tomorrow the sun and the sea are waiting for us!

14 / 4 - start our seaside vacation and relax. Breakfast and immediately to the beach to enjoy a beautiful sun finally: The village is really nice and quiet so if you do not look for the chaos, like us, is ideal. The reef is right there and then we can do is go and explore. Access to the sea is allowed through a long jetty that takes you on the edge of the barrier. Mask, fins and underwear (the water a little 'lukewarm, at least for me) and soon to explore this underwater garden. At about 10 am going to hear the meeting of the tour operator to see which tour should do. We choose, without a shadow of doubt, for the excursion to the island of Utopia, all day. There are other interesting excursions in this holiday but the watchword is relaxation. Our package includes half board with drinks but if you want you can buy a package of 6 meals at a cost of 42 euros. In the village the animation is discrete (fortunately ...): Do not torment you with the usual activities ...

15 / 4 - Beach, sun, sea, beach, sun, sea ... that hard!

16 / 4 - Today, the island of Utopia all day at a cost of 34 euros with lunch and drinks included. Utopia is a coral atoll located off the coast of Safaga. Departure by bus from the village at 8.30, along deserted beaches on one side and desert on the other hand, arrive at Safaga and boarding at the 'Hotel Intercontinental. The sea has some incredible colors dall'azzurro light to dark blue through a thousand shades of turquoise. The trip includes two stops for snorkeling and see the colorful fish of the Red Sea. The fish here are not afraid of human presence so you get very close, we see angelfish, butterfly fish, bird, fish, unicorn fish and many others whose name I have forgotten. We dine on board and then we head towards Utopia, a strip of white dabba and nothing more. The stop is about a couple of hours, the sun is even more bitter ... we'll stay under the sun?!? ... But surely then c'sempre the sea to save us ... It falls around 18:00 and we are in the village. Along the way, since here the days are shorter I can make some photos of the sun setting behind the mountains of the desert. The evenings here are certainly not fashionable ... after dinner, usually makes a short stop at the bar where Ali Baba is a show every night.

17 / 4 - usually the sun and sea and then to 16.30 with the van from the village you go to El Quseir. Costs 18 Egyptian pounds. We come to the country and I seem to be in Sharm twenty years ago! The men still dress with brown and women dressed with the blacks and the veil. The shopkeepers do not lose this opportunity to call and stop to offer their wares ... they are really exhausting ... we should not buy anything in particular given that we already visited Egypt and things more features are already on display in the dashboard of souvenirs . We do only a few small purchases and to le18.45 always fall with the van of the Village impressions of the country? I would say ugly and dirty.

18 / 4 - another sunny days, today regrettably no sea, there is too much wind on the pier waving a red flag ... you can not go overboard.

19 / 4 - Last day and luckily the wind was so strong then you can see once again our beautiful little fish as well as the beautiful flora!

20 / 4 - It is and I have to say really: Return tragic flight moved to 9.30 instead of 3 hours We start at 12:30, ok wake up and breakfast 8:45 bus to Hurghada, arrive at the airport along with thousands of other people and we discover that the flight has a further hour and a half late ... we start at 14:00 plentiful and really crazy thing: they fuel with us on board ... never seen anything like it ... okay! Hopefully well! The flight stops over in the other in Milan and then for us to go down to Bologna is even longer, concludes .... A flight that was to last 3 hours and 45 minutes lasted 6 hours and 15 ... not bad right!?! We arrive in Bologna at 20.30 and we pay the parking lot and back home.

To sum up I must say that the trip went very well, quiet, relaxing, warm, a village in my opinion very good value for money both for everything over the cleaning of the kitchen staff and then the sea ... a fairytale! Only negative was the return flight but I have already made a report through the travel agent.
The Red Sea is always a guarantee for the weather to the sea due to its proximity to Italy and what not to underestimate costs.

I forgot: the euro is accepted everywhere, if you need to change in Egyptian pounds (pounds) do only what is strictly necessary.
100 = 12 euro
