In Watamu with Sugar one year later... Again an emotioning travel to Kenya

Leave behind the long winter and with great joy I welcome the arrival of summer with the long-awaited vacation because the desire to return to Kenya Watamu in my beloved and my dear friend Sugar is getting stronger.

 

And so the evening of Aug. 14 aboard an Airbus 330-200 Eurofly of Italy salute the window and on ... flying to Kenya. The impatience and the desire to get even longer make the trip, but finally here is that at 6:30 Saturday, August 15 dell'areomobile the wheels touch the ground ... SIIIII are in Mombasa. Now I put myself in line for checks and baggage and I hasten to reach the bus for transfer to the village.

The journey takes about two hours and I look out the window the city of Mombasa in its chaotic early morning, with its smells, its smells, its barefoot children running after the vans of tourists with the hope that someone drops by a sweet window, trying to remember roads already traveled and places you've seen.

The clock runs slow and I'm impatient, increasingly impatient here but far from the sign of 'Aquarius Beach ... finally have arrived. A row of beach boy is ready to attack the newcomers but I already have people waiting for me, the best, my very dear friend and Sugar! Emotions ran high, and she embraces the emotion is great to finally be back in the land that last year gave me the most beautiful and strongest emotion of my life!

I do date with the latest Sugar and within all'Aquarius for check-in. I see familiar faces, and the feeling of home you live in me, I look around, and everything is like last year, no, there's something new: the bridge between the central and Lily Palm. My room is in the main building, ground floor swimming pool and restaurant.
A quick shower and Stephanie and Prince Albert, a couple at the airport we are known by him immediately with sugar is fixed package tours: a two-day safari in Tsavo East Safari Blue and half day in Malindi.
After lunch we relax in the pool, the travel fatigue is felt. Lying on my bed I watch the sky, I let myself be carried away by emotions, thousands of images pass before me, the memories of last year, expectations for this year but the important thing is that I feel happy and serene.

Blue Safari at the Mangroves

The next day, Sunday 16 we are ready for the first excursion: Safari Blue to the mangroves. The appointment is Sugar Beach. Together reach the entire group, strolling by the seaside, where our boat is moored "Surprised" boarded riding the waves a bit 'rough we go between the mangroves and beautiful sail slowly enjoying the wonderful landscape that surrounds. From a distance we see a group of pink flamingos, we approach, and their disturbed by the noise of the engine fly up as showing the beauty of the colors of their coat. Approaching lunchtime, we reach the island where a rich buffet awaits us: rice with octopus sauce, swordfish with potatoes, lobster and prawns, and finally a lot of good fruit. Between laughter and joy devour lunch and rigor a loud applause to the great Sugar that has to be well understood that Italians should be "tempting "!!!!
After an hour or siesta after lunch back to reach the edge of the Watamu marine park and there we stop for a dip among the colorful fish and then return to village.

Safari at the Tsavo East

It is Monday, August 17, meet at 6:00, breakfast at a local "snack" and away you go on safari. As a beach girl, Sugar entrust me to a van which will drive the legendary Ambrose and after two hours' drive on winding roads (you can dance without music, "says Sugar always) and dusty here we are at the park entrance. All full of adrenaline and with camera in hand we are ready to capture images of beautiful savannah with its colors, the diversity of landscapes and beautiful animals that inhabit it.
I calmly enjoy the scenery and do as advocates of instructions and explanations of our driver Ambrose.
Zebras, giraffes, elephants, antelopes, baboons, crocodiles, hippos, wild pigs, but this is the "prey" most coveted: the lions. For the record lionesses, I saw a bunch of bushes between relaxing, lying on a trunk, then a prompt for an attack on a prey then escape.
Satisfied and happy you reach the Wildlife Lodge for lunch. This year, the accommodation is in tents but in the rooms, no doubt more comfortable in the tent but in my opinion "was more safari. Peace, this is what I perceive when the lodge and on the terrace overlooking the lake where the animals come to abbeverasi, I relax ready to tackle the "hunt" in the afternoon. Again we leave to board buses, but not until sunset that we enjoy because of the huge gray clouds covered the sky. Back to the lodge, shower, dinner, a chat and sleep early the next morning the alarm was dawn.
After breakfast we depart for new adventures and new emotions. Sugar is now with us on our bus, we leave the lodge at some point the CB an alert, Ambrose began to run wildly have spotted a cheetah. E 'away and camouflaged in the color of the savannah is hard to see him take the telescope, here, is there still, with all its elegance and with eyes fixed in front of him. We are all very happy, we share these pictures. After traveling a few yards we spot a male lion's mane without strolling not far from us. That said, a morning full of great emotions!
The residence time in the park is about to end, the ticket is valid for 24 hours and we depart for the return in Watamu.

The love island

And 'Thursday 20. After he had left us on Wednesday while relaxing to recover from the safari, Sugar takes us to the island of love. Do not know why it's called so, some say for his heart-shaped and there are those who say it had found a couple making love ....
You can walk along the streets of Watamu. It 'nice to stroll through the village, you will see how people live, meet many children who just see groups of tourists asking them chasing candy, pens and T-shirts. We reach the island by foot because of the low tide and just throw ourselves into the water attracted by the beautiful colors of the Indian Ocean. Approaching lunch time and the tide starts to rise, but we still manage to return on foot. It 'amazing to see how quickly the water level rises and how much is the strength of the currents. Otherwise there are very craft boats that bring you back to shore.
The return to the village is getting from Milano 2, the area where there are beautiful villas owned by Italians, of course wealthy.

Safari Blue - Sardinia 2

It 'Friday 21. The appointment is at Aquarius. With a van we reach the Malindi Marine Park and from there always on the boat, "Surprised" starts navigating to Sardinia 2, stopping for a dip in the beautiful waters of the Indian Ocean surrounded by thousands of colorful fish. Time is not on our side, blacks dominate large clouds above us, but we are all confident and Sugar reassures us that the sun will shine again soon, and it will be.
From a distance, a white sand atoll surrounded by crystal clear waters of the Indian Ocean is waiting for us, breathtaking scenery .... And the surprises will not end here !!!!! Sugar now surpass himself giving me once again demonstrates how a truly special person and keep him as to his Italian friends, it is important for him to make us happy and fulfill and satisfy our request. Begin preparations for the lunch that will be consumed on the boat, because, little by little then the tide will rise and will cover the atoll.
Everyone is busy doing photo books and admire the ocean and its beauty, but then gradually spread the air a pleasant scent attracts our attention.
On a unique and unusual grid made with the coil of refrigerators are cooking our meal: slices of swordfish, followed by shrimp, octopus freshly caught from the dish and finally ... .. a pile of lobster, and then do not forget the rice with the delicious and always appreciated sauce based polyp and for the occasion Sugar has also bought some white wine! We are all very happy and satisfied with this second trip to Sardinia and of course triggered a strong spontaneous applause for Sugar.
Clear the table and tidied the boat we return home, while some of us rose to take a little 'sun, I and others with kids and Kenyan Sugar intone notes Jambo Jambo and so with great joy we conclude what has been nothing short of a fantastic day!

Beach Girl Afternoon

And 'Saturday 22 and as always the day before the safari is spent in total relaxation. After breakfast I go to the beach to get a bit 'of tan in the company of my dear friends Stephanie and Albert. After lunch I see myself with sugar that invites me to go with him to meet new customers.
Gladly accept his proposal and a car driven by his reach, through a road that is "an obstacle course," the EdenVillage. Sugar takes the reservations of excursions and asks me who I give advice and explanations about it. ... I like this role of his assistant. We return all'Aquarius and we agree for the evening, it's Saturday and this evening we go to Come Back.

Safari at the Tsavo East

And 'Sunday 23 and I, Stephanie and Albert are ready for another safari, Tsavo always because it is closer in relation to' Amboseli. The important thing is to stay away from the monotony of beach life and hope to see many more animals and spend happily with sugar and the other guys in the group two days in Savannah. As always the meeting is at snack for breakfast. Also this time I trusted a minibus Sugar, which is driving but there will be my trusted driver, but Ambrose Thomas. This morning I also have the opportunity to meet two couples who had contacted me for information about the safari with the beach boy and the fact that I have trusted and are resting on Sugar makes me very happy. It starts, after two hours here we are at the entrance of East Tzavo, crocodiles and then step off into the savannah in search of animals. The desire of all is to see "The King", but unfortunately this time the king of the bush we play a bad joke. However our expectations will not be completely disappointed, we will see more opportunities in an off the lions and cheetahs three, unlike the first time they did that seemed to be defiance in water and only leave for a while, we will see the hippos lying on riverbank. Even this time it was a great experience and as always it was nice to stay at Voi Wildlife Lodge.
Returned from safari after a shower and a good lunch we rest on the beach pampered by the sun and the sound of waves breaking on the shore, and why is scheduled for the evening a dinner in honor of sugar, to thank him for bringing us a fantastic holiday for sharing with us the emotions and moments of happiness, for being always available and ready to satisfy all our desires for having contributed his talent to its seriousness and commitment to make it even more beautiful than the discovery Kenya is a wonder, for being a friend to us all.

Timboni Orphanage

E’ dallo scorso anno, quando l’ho presa tra le mie braccia per la prima volta che sogno di nuovo questo momento. E così finalmente martedì mattina è il giorno che Zucchero ci accompagnerà in visita all’orfanotrofio di Timboni. Non sto più nella pelle. Appena scesa dal pulmino mi guardo attorno per vedere se tra tutti quei musetti vedo la mia bambina, ma niente, allora mostro alla maestra che ci sta guidando nella visita della struttura la foto che avevo scattato e che tengo sempre con me sul display del cellulare. “She is in the next room”, la sua risposta. Il mio cuore inizia a battere forte ed entrata nella stanza mi è bastata un’occhiata veloce a tutti i bimbi per riconosce subito lei, quel piccolo angioletto che mi ha rubato il cuore. Mi avvicino e con l’aiuto della maestra a poco a poco riesco a prenderla tra le mie braccia. Un’emozione indescrivibile. E’ cresciuta ed è anche molto timida, solo alla fine con qualche coccola inizia a lasciarsi andare ma….il tempo è scaduto ce ne dobbiamo andare. E’ davvero dura doverla rimettere nel suo lettino e dovermi separare ancora una volta da lei; ogni volta lo stesso pensiero ogni volta la stessa domanda: perché non me la posso portare a casa? La stringo forte e le do un ultimo bacio e poi con le lacrime agli occhi lascio la stanza. Abbraccio Zucchero e lo ringrazio per avermi portato a salutare la mia piccola.

The ruins of Gede

In the afternoon the appointment is for 15 entry, destination Gede Ruins. " Sugar will not be with us because they will accompany another group in Malindi, but we preferred to change the travel. Leaving dall'Aquarius find the bus waiting for us. The ride is short, about ten minutes. Once at the top we are greeted by a group of curious monkeys and tasty as soon as we see pulling out of the bag bananas begin to do somersaults to catch them. Start your visit to the ruins, which will last approximately one hour or half and, of course with the help of a guide speaking in Italian.

Relax and conclusions

Now we are almost at the finish line and they decided to spend three days in total relax, enjoying the sun, sea and legendary Beach Boys.

Also this year the holiday is over, once again I greet Kenya, Watamu, the Aquarius, which now has become my second home, the new Italian friends and Kenyans. It breaks my heart having to leave, but because I must greet a person who is very special for me that I'm fond of, which for me is not the only Beach Boy who trusted me to the discovery of Kenya. For me he is a dear friend and then recommend to anyone wanting a holiday in Kenya, who want to find beauty in all its reliance on sugar, and I'm sure like me your back is forever in the heart of an unforgettable memory.
