LAKE NAKURU MASAI MARA (PART TWO)

MASAI MARA

And 'the morning, in the silence, after breakfast, we load our bags and head for the exit of the park. But here we meet 3 lionesses, lying in the grass. Their breath and rest rooms in the clouds of steam! After a few meters from the bush who comes out? BLACK RHINO, rare, very rare and shy, but also very aggressive, unlike the much larger book, but more docile white rhino! It 'difficult to see, but we are lucky! In fact, a little later, 2 male lions, are feasting on a warthog just kicked! just beyond the hyenas come closer, then away, waiting for their turn!
Let this extraordinary place, to return to the road that will take us to the MASAI MARA. During the trip, several naps. After several hours, after the town of Narok, inziamo approach to the land of the great Masai warriors! Fields of sun-scorched grass, grazing herd of cows with long horns, the typical hump, with the shiny coat, where it almost shines and reflects the warm African sun! We arrive at our lodge David Livingstone, in time for lunch. It 'very nice, cozy, furnished with traditional Masai fabrics, red, red and blue, red and white. The lodge overlooks the Mara River, and there right in front of the dining table where we are a large herd of hippos huge water appears and disappears. After lunch, here we continue our journey. The landscape here is different. Large expanse of African grasslands, with large bushes. A happy family of warthogs, paraded before us. They are funny, trot with their tails up, the wide face to the sky. A row with big and little ones who are struggling to keep pace. The day ends with a big lion, has a thick mane, blonde, long. And 'beautiful colored grain. He sleeps completely relaxed, legs in the air under a big bush! Hey, King of forestaa. Nothing, not flustered, and after having made a fifty photos, we decided to come over and do not disturb his sleep. We too are tired. Tired but happy for the wonderful day. Here's a hot shower waiting for us. Good dinner, a chat while the large hippo, finally, to the cool of the evening out of the water to graze the grass, with huge fangs, just one meter from us!
Africa Night
MASAI MARA

The day today will be entirely devoted to the MASAI MARA Reserve. Yes, it does not come for lunch, eat it directly in the savannah! Inside the MASAI MARA, there are no tracks. So you must use the knowledge of the immense territory of the Masai-rangers. The territory is vast, we begin to spot herds of wildebeest and zebras. There are so many. It 'started the great migration. A performance by the NG documentary! And we're not sitting in an armchair, watching television, but here! We are IN the documentary nature. We are at the center of his life. Mice large antelopes, who like to be firm with their front legs resting on a small survey also have a reddish color, shiny hair, and big black spots on her thighs and shoulders.
After a few minutes, between the blades of grass waving in the wind, here is a group of vultures waiting!
There are many, arranged in two rows. At the center, a pair of jackals, with their small pointed ears are feasting on small prey. We stop to watch the scene. Occasionally, one of the two lifts his head, to control the movements of vultures. But, here, just a moment, distracted ... and its prey, is no longer his, disappears into the glossy gray colored feathers, long necks without feathers, beaks curved! And behold, a lioness, is controlling prey. A gnu was fired. She is lying at his side. Do not eat. But we see in the distance to reach two other lionesses. Trot read.
Are close to our jeep. I can see into their eyes. The first lies down facing us, JOHN gets up to photograph her, and she was immediately on guard. Ready for a leap! He has yellow eyes, hypnotic!
I look at his eyes, a hunter, a look that enchants and blocks! I'm shaking, it's there, close by, ready.
Still shaken, let us continue. JOHN and the driver are looking for a suitable place to stop for lunch. A brief stop on the Mara River, where we go down, accompanied by rangers and local guide JOHN, stretch our legs, and waiting to see crocodiles on the bank, hippopotamus, and piled to one another, while the water flows between the black rocks .
Here, the place for our picnic. In the middle of the bush, under a large umbrella-shaped acacia.
We go down, we spread a blanket Masai, and banquets with the products that we have prepared that morning at the lodge. Chicken, delicious, sandwich, tomatoes, sweet, water, juice, fresh fruit!
But believe me? I'm having lunch in the middle of the MASAI MARA, sitting on the floor, his eyes wandering in nature, with a little 'fear that a predator could get close, but happy, happy, happy!
Our game continues. Elephants near the woods, an eagle looking from the branches of a leafless tree. Large herds of wildebeest and zebras, dot the savannah. Thousands. Some, suddenly, they start jumping, for no apparent reason. They jump for a bit 'of seconds, then stop it for no reason. Among them, groups of elegant and slender Grant's gazelle and Thompson's gazelles. As we return for dinner, two other gifts, made from this earth without end.
First, under a cactus, so huge that from afar looks like a big tree, there are 3 cheetahs, lying comfortably on our arrival, just raise your head. They are beautiful, elegant, slender, with their characteristic black spots, tears as the two drawn. We look from every angle. They are beautiful, I repeat myself. They seem so tame that I want to go down to caress her. Elegant, sinuous, lying comfortably, rub his nose with one another. Continue along the road. The show is not finished, solitary under a bush, a beautiful family of lions. Big lionesses, a large male. Dozing, a full belly in the air. Bellies swollen with food, shortness of digestion. Open your eyes to look, with the muzzle resting on the ground, as if to say: let us sleep, siestaaaa! So, let them rest in peace.
Fantastic day, after a hot shower, a chat with the mind to go through the day, we slip under the warm blankets.
Night Africa.
