Departure and Arrival

Finalmente si parte !!!!!! After talking all winter with two friends when you place your book ... but .... For various reasons, the vacancy jumps: Destination Turkey. After many arrabbiature, nervousness and taken out, I decide to leave ... .. a last minute, alone: the destination for Kenya and the clarification Watamu is August 19 2008. The holiday starts badly, 9 hours of waiting at the airport, an engine fails during take-off. In the unfortunate luck, the opportunity to meet people, those who will become my traveling companions !!!!!!! On the morning of August 20 and the plane finally takes off after 7 hours and 40 minutes landed in Mombasa, go through the airport affairs, climb on board that will lead us all'Aquarius Beach Resort in Watamu. The village is quite nice and clean (on the other hand we are in Africa), quiet (the animation is done by one of the tour operetor in the village but it is very very soft: beach volleyball and spettacolino evening ... .!!!! ), Italian food, not a lot of choice but we eat rather well! The beach sand is white and seems to walk on snow, the sea is beautiful sin, however, that in August there are several algae and are not always able to swim (Bring the shoes .... There are sea urchins! ). On the evening of my arrival (fortunately I have made friends with three girls), returning to the village after attending the evening spettacolino closer we come from one of the famous beach boys on the beaches of Kenya (and Zanzibar), his name is SUGAR: be with his friend Momo, our companion Journal !!!!! Say that, despite the many warnings against dall'assistente and responsible traffic trips in the village, our sugar was simply fantastic! We bought him from the package tours (2 days safari, afternoon and a Malindi trip + mangroves to the marine park) and we saved 40 euros compared to the price of movement made by the village, bearing in mind that we did do other escursioncine free and has always been very nice and willing to meet our every request.

The first days

The morning after our arrival (Thursday 21) Sugar we immediately organized an outing on a beach type of atoll which does not remember the name and in the afternoon after a stroll along the seafront, with a lot of kids of the site that we have accompanied (really, I had said, you're never alone !!!!!!!), us to see the monkeys (to get the bananas from the buffet in the village, go crazy!).

The Safari

Today is great day (Friday 22): 6 o'clock for the safari, destination park Tsavo East After breakfast in a Barettini two Italian kids in the center of Watamu, climb on board our bus and after about 2 ½ hours street, we arrive at your destination. Before entering the park, we stop to the usual physiological needs at a "general store" where you can also go shopping for souvenirs and we have our first meeting with ... .... A crocodile !!!!! After reaching the entrance walk to the park, again on board and ... ... ... began "hunting". After walking our super sight driver who was a lioness, in peace and with the stomach full "(next to her was a carcass of a zebra) lying under a tree ... ... I was happy, excited to the point that I got the "goose skin" over the whole body, for me safari was finished .... ZUCCHERO had kept the promise, when we booked the safari I had said I wanted to see a lion and he said, "you'll see that you'll see, I promise, I will macumba for you !!!!!! ..." and they did. From that moment we were all loaded and ready to see everything and more 'and animals we have seen so many really ... .. we were lucky! Two wonderful days in the middle of the savannah, surrounded by the beauty of its nature and its amazing animals! And the evocative view from the terrace restaurant of the Lodge in which slot (Voi Wildlife Lodge) overlooking a pond where all the animals came to drink so many emotions ... emotions one after the other ... ... indescribable in words, only to have them experienced it can understand. And 'Saturday and should return to Watamu, salute the Savana reluctantly and after a stop at a Masai village between dances and stories, our bus takes us back all'Aquarius.
In the afternoon we devote to the beach and relax in the evening and me and the girls' group holidays "we asked for sugar and MOMO to spend an evening" Malindi by night. " After about half an hour journey into the depths of the night (no lights on the roads), we reach Malindi, after an espresso and a po 'di chat we decide to go "four jumps in the disco." The location is nice, there are many tourists but also a lot of people, especially girls in search of ... ... "Fortunately, truly frightening scenes! Leave aside the comments because I do not seem the case, so everyone knows how to run things in this world ... ..
The evening is pleasant, and our boys are carinissima beach, but unfortunately we have to return the next day there's a hike.

The last days

It's Sunday and departure is scheduled for 8.30, on board the bus arrive at the boat that will take us between the mangroves, the time is not the best and at a certain point it triggers un'acquazzone ... but it's fun, all wet and at the mercy of the waves !!!!! Having toured most of the morning between mangroves, with the disappointment of another group that had not been informed of the type of trip they expected, we reach the island where we are welcomed, always accompanied by the notes of Jambo Jambo, for lunch: rice, fish, potatoes with gravy, lobster, shrimp, fruit and .... The famous coconut wine !!!!!! After a rest after lunch, again on board of our boat, we arrive at the marine park, where we stop for a dip in the crystal surrounded by numerous fish and then we reach a beautiful white sand beach and finished our day enjoying the last rays of the sun (after the storm had calmed) before returning to the village. Now we are almost at the end of the holiday on Monday so we spend all day on the beach, also the last time we friend: the sky is finally completely blue, not even a cloud! ZUCCHERO now had to bring a part of our group holidays "to make the trip to the mangroves, yesterday they were unable for reasons of" force majeure ", he was returning at sunset from the beach and offers us the evening a drink ... .. in a "disco bar" in the Watamu "Like Bach. The location and large it is nice outside, a small dance floor and a corner of billiards. We are a beautiful table and between toast, chat and dance celebrating the end of the holiday, our wonderful "group holiday" beach and our two boys and ZUCCHERO MOMO. The next morning (Tuesday 26) our beach boys us ... .. the island of an atoll of white sand in the shape of a heart close to un'isolotto! The reach of the typical on-board local boats. What wonder! Water blue, clear, seemed to be in paradise .... Among bathrooms, souvenir photos and sunbathing there spend the whole morning and then again on board the boats back on dry land, and walk through the "Milano 2" in Watamu (è the area where there are all the villas owned by Europeans, especially Italians) we return to the village for lunch.
Spend the afternoon on the beach helping our beach boys to procure customers among the newcomers, and the evening as our desire (some of us were led by clothing and toys for children) Sugar we organize a visit all'orfanotrofio God Our Father Children's Home (as an alternative to a half day Malindi). During the trip we stop to do some 'of food supplies: rice, biscuits, flour, juice and water to bring all'orfanotrofio. Children welcome us with a ballet accompanied by the note of welcome song "Jambo", then mama Susy us to visit the facility. We arrive in the room where they are kept small, I take a baby in her arms and immediately I fell, I would have brought home with me ... not only you but all! I will never forget their smiles and those blacks eyes full of hope! Before leaving the center, we are giving the address and the c / c bancario to send aid, that have visited the project in the expansion and improvement of the center. A grudging salute all children and with so much sadness we return to the village. E 'last night, but none of us after the visit all'orfanotrofio want to celebrate ... .... And so after the usual exchange of addresses, phone numbers, we will withdraw to prepare the bags ... ... tomorrow is Wednesday 27 on the day of departure, the holidays are finished ... Italy is waiting for us! It will be hard having to leave Kenya, in particular the splendid Watamu, but will be especially hard to separate from having sugar and MOMO, who made this wonderful unforgettable holiday in Africa!
