The second stage is the city of Fes, where to stay Menzeh hotel, quite central.
Fes is called the cultural capital of Morocco, also called the "Florence of the Maghreb" for the wealth of monuments and evidences of historic and artistic value. The show (and we really can call it that) is most amazing is its medina of Fes, the largest in Morocco so beautiful and intriguing that became Unesco. Just venture through the gates to the medina to be in another world where the maze of lanes, time has stopped. We walked to the medina at night and silence could be seen only the builders forced to work at night, all the shops closed preserves us great surprises for the next day.
In the morning we understand fully why you do the masonry work at night: a swirl of sounds, colors, smells, pleasant scents and smells foul, the intersection in the streets with donkeys laden protruding from almost put us in danger, peek inside one thousand shops increased our curiosity. At lunch was amazing to open a door in a lane surrounded by the chaos of the city and find a restaurant almost magical, with mosaics, paintings, gilded chandeliers. ... And out of the chaotic life!
We visited the medersa Bou Anania, the mosque Karaouine (from outside ... we are not Muslims) and always outside the sumptuous Royal Palace (every town has one, is not bad even this new king of Morocco), then to access the souk with tanneries and dyeing of hides. A sprig of mint vaguely soothed the acrid smell of the dye while the men were immersed in vats to dye leather. We have also seen the hard work of those who hand carves out a small tile colored tiles for mosaics that adorn many homes and buildings Moroccans.
Of the "total chaos" in that swarm of life we certainly good memories .....
