We leave me and my friend Tiziana for Morocco with a jaunt organized. We would have preferred a trip do-it-yourself but not much we liked the idea of two women and blondes around to venture to Morocco. Yes, we were met by a strong (if not so healthy) prejudice toward the Islamic world which is why we preferred a flock of about thirty Italians maybe we made a little sheep .... but much safer! We arrive in Marrakech in the afternoon and we brought in a hotel. Moroccan guide now, a nice and intelligent girl who deny during the journey many of our prejudices and clichés, explains what will be our route the next morning from just to Casablanca, Rabat overnight excursion to Volubilis, Meknes, Fes and back to Marrakech where we will for two days for a visit.
I will not describe precisely the stages of the journey on this site because there are those who have already done a lot better than I could as I do and given that the destinations are the same, refer to those descriptions (good and detailed) for details and the wonders of the various places visited. I would write about the impressions I had from this trip.
Casablanca: a city very modern, functional and very similar to ours. The only thing that makes it different is the beautiful mosque which is located by the sea and which I think is one of the largest in the Muslim world.
Rabat: It is the capital, seat of the kingdom and a city that begins to give you the idea of what will be the architecture that will meet in the journey. Interesting and fascinating, the medina, with all those narrow streets, white houses and the fortress which is located in the upper part of the city. There is also the most old and interesting that when visited in "flock" is not afraid to be alone ..... but I would not have felt so peaceful. (Maledetti prejudices) The hotel in Rabat is a 5 stars and not from the rare electric penzolanti from the walls as Strenne Christmas, and the smell of mold in the room, you could define a truly luxurious. Tasted wonderful the 'mint not find even the most dried mint purchased and cooked in Italy for the return. Do not try, you will ciofeca. Best drink in Morocco, or tell you to enjoy.
Meknes: beautiful mausoleum dedicated to the Moulay Ismail and the stables.
VOLUBILIS: great witness to the presence of the Romans in Morocco. It 'a big building that we do not really expect to find in this nation! Travel is also used to acculturate. During the journey to the north I surprised to see how green it is around. We do not expect to find in Morocco, and many lush green pastures. Judging also by the numerous herds of cattle encountered, we had the feeling of being in Switzerland in the summer and in January in North Africa.Anche this was an aspect I never imagined we were in Morocco.
EDF: extraordinary city. Things that most affect: the narrow streets of the medina, daily life of donkeys mounted by farmers who continue to shout Belek! Belek! which should enable them to make headway. Another thing this time, however terrible, the visit to the tanneries, where the smell is nauseating absolutely insignificant compared with those iglienico health work in which the tanners. A shame in surface against most miserable human right. Invite the tourists who will travel there to see how much work would be done to any trade unionist! In that situation, however, rather than labor law, we should talk about human rights and basic civil. Maybe see some live reality, it becomes aware of the fact that in the world every man should have the same rights .....
Marrakech: the most charming and sick. The city collects the essence of the magic that we breathed in the whole trip. It seems to be the protagonists of one of those fairy tales that had sound fashion when I was a child and starting with a song that said - there is neither a thousand, of trails and tales for you ...... ..-
CONCLUSIONS
Morocco is a fascinating country and enchanter. Kitchen fantastic (if you abolish the cumin from the table), wonderful pastries. In Islam is one of the most moderate, but the fact remains that when we visit we have the greatest respect for the customs and costumes. Certainly there is still much to be done with regard to the rights of workers in some places, but I am convinced that cultural exchanges between the peoples can with time, to do miracles without imposing anything on anyone. Enjoy Morocco
