For a first meeting with Tunisia decide to take the boat from Genoa to Tunis with the return (and pause for a half day) in Malta. We start from Florence and the machine stays at Genoa. We leave that for a week in this city is a real problem. In the end everything liscio row (at a cost of 100 euros!) And we board with Grandi Navi Veloci. The journey by ship is something within reach of man. You have time to read, sleep, watch a movie etc.. At 16 the next day we are a la Goulette in a dazzling sun and a sky of blue almost fake. We are in Africa. A taxi takes us to the Carlton Hotel for only 4 dinars and started the "discovery". Excellent hotel on Av Bourguiba, art deco style, three-star hotel that is worth four, clean and with air conditioning just 50 euros per night (two!) With breakfast (visit the site to believe). Excellent discovered the restaurant in Al Mazar rue de Marseille a few steps away. Attended alone Tunisian males, but a local kitchen (clean) and very good fish at unbelievable prices. We were the only tourists but our "courage" has been repaid. Well! The rest can be found on all the guides: the Great Mosque, the Medina, the souk, the Bardo Museum, Sidi Bou Said with coffee de Nattes etc.. A forgot: do not be charmed by the Medina who wants to see or buy things. Do not do it for your pleasure, are located in several places and tolerated by the police. They are gentle and never aggressive, but it is better to make a beautiful smile and go beyond. The next year, again in April or May, the south of Tunisia surely awaits us!
