One of the experiences that you should not give up, once arrived in Kowloon, is the crossing of Victoria Harbor aboard a Star Ferry.

These ferries, now historic, since they have been in business more than a century ago, are constantly shuttling from the pier Sha Tsui, Central and Wan Chai. (Photo 1)
Not only the crossing is economically advantageous, since it costs very little, but it is also very suggestive. These green and white ferries, barges, old wood, stone and revitalize the landscape of the prestigious elegant and modern Hong kong.

Although they may seem outdated are extremely efficient, they can be driven from both ends, dock and leave continuously, so there are races to be expected, anyone can go to the pier in Kowloon, wait a few minutes and leave for Central.

During the crossing to observe the sights, especially from the upper deck, is a feast for the eyes of the people, and the trip takes only ten minutes. (Photo 2)

On arrival at Central is to understand why this place is regarded as the symbol (mainly economic) of Hong kong, enjoying spectacular introduction to the area's most elegant and beloved in the area. (Photo 3)
Dozens of administrative buildings crowd anywhere, at their feet impressive roads dominated by cars and crowds on the move, and in this large network that governs the Central, remain trapped small alleys of gray suits, makeshift shops, myriad of stalls ...

Just off the pier is Jardine House, one of the tallest buildings built in the '70s, home of most Asian stock markets outside of Japan (Stock Exchange of Hong kong).

Walking on Connaught Road, one is impressed by the sense of grandeur that offers this glimpse of life, everything is amplified, lights, chaos, crowds continue, but as you go along you realize, without realizing it, the atmosphere, very gradually is becoming more relaxed.

Arriving at Central Market you can decide to continue and cut the whole plant going up on the longest escalator in the world (2600 feet), landing in the heart of the Mid-Levels, or stroll through the narrow streets that cross the entire district. (Photo 4)
Up to Peak will be a succession of scenes of urban life, passing by the skyscrapers of government to residential condominiums, luxury apartments, the green hills that surround the Central ... all handled by the markets, banquets, alleys, caged and soul of the internal roads.

Each circuitous route that meets the Central to Mid-Levels has its history and its special features, you can spend a day exploring and never get bored, there are elegant streets like Hollywood Road, loaded with stores of medicines and medicinal herbs such as Graham Street, chaotic markets like Gage Street in each course are given off the inevitable smells of kebabs roasted, fried noodles, the common element of this strange but effective mix of old and new. USEFUL:
Travel on the Star ferry costs $ 2.20 K, they put the coins in a box at the entrance to go down the ramp and go up. On the Star Ferry is advisable to get on the upper deck, the views are better and you are not overwhelmed by the smell of diesel.
The escalator is an experience recommended, in 20 minutes to ride through the Central, you can get on and off everything, once you go over on foot. It has no cost. 6 to 10 proceeds downhill after always uphill until 22 pm.
