The great India. A trip differently, outside the box and at low cost.
At the end of the winter me and my lady we visited a small part of South India, one out of the big tours. As we were thrilled, not only for beauty but for the fascinating variety of rhythms, the busy city, people and local traditions, in addition to the fascinating and vivid colors that frame every moment of the trip in this land.
Just leave the airport in Bangalore have experienced the chaos of the city at night, taken, even at night, the din of honking cars that require road. A soundtrack that has accompanied us for the whole tour in the regions of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.
Outside the airport waiting for our driver and guide Naseer, who also spoke a bit 'of Italian made us visit monuments, villages and cities outside of the itineraries of Western visitors, but very significant in Indian history.
The driver, Indian, Bangalore, was very important and critical to our trip. Apart from the use of aircraft for major domestic travel is not possible to use public transport, which are almost nonexistent and badly cut. Nor can we think of renting a car to drive on their own: almost impossible given the risky internal road and how to drive the Indians.
Even if such a trip might seem very expensive, considering the driver and the car available, he has a low cost and affordable for all Westerners. If you can find a good cheap flight that takes us in India (we have found at 700 euros per person round-trip including taxes and visa), who spends every day there can cost from 30 to 50 euros apiece, all inclusive: meals and lodging in hotels and good restaurants or even luxury (5 star), car hire with driver (available 24h on 24h), gratuities, entrance fees to museums and palaces, etc.. (excluding purchases and personal gifts). Anyone interested can contact SIPA TRAVEL Bangalore (md_azam2007@yahoo.co.in), an agency of young drivers (ours was Naseer), which promotes the tour in India at competitive prices in the South
Are the guides or the same driver, in our case, to direct the traveler / tourist to discover the most interesting places, passing through the most beautiful cities. But not only.
Our route started from Bangalore, city and modern technology, where a wonderful visit to the botanical garden has also filled our spirit. Then on ... at a time of great Mysore, former capital of the Indo-British, unique in its nineteenth-century architecture and one of the most beautiful buildings across the India.
Along the way we visited some beautiful temples of the sixteenth and fifteenth century, dedicated to the god Ganesha and other gods besides the Tipu Sultan and Palace Garden, an example of Islamic architecture in eastern lands. Between cows and buses overflowing with people walking the route done in Mysore has allowed us to immerse themselves in an era of over a century ago, full of colors and odors from small or large tree-lined streets and its typical markets.
Our tour then went to Hassan, Belur Halebidu and where there are some wonderful archaeological sites with ancient temples dedicated to the god very large bull and then Shravanangapattana that after a steep climb on foot up the hill of stone, we came to the statue monoblock largest in India.
On a trip to India can not then also miss a visit of some days in a asharam (spiritual community) and our experience we have chosen one of the most famous and popular mystical places: Puttaparthi, where he lives Sai Baba. Here, in addition to live a beautiful and controversial introspective experience, alongside thousands of others from around the world, we have known some villagers into their homes, know and understand the customs and traditions, their way to see us and our way of thinking. A unique experience ... by travelers, not tourists.
Yes, because India is not a goal as another. E 'a shot in the stomach for even the most experienced travelers. E 'of extreme poverty, but also of the utmost dignity. E 'chaos and stillness at the same time. And 'everything and its opposite. However you see is always extremely fascinating ... and if you plan to make a great holiday at a low cost that India is definitely for you.
