Bali or the 'Island of the Gods, what better setting for this' island of the Indonesian archipelago located between the 'island of Java el' island of Lombok.
It 'just the island where most of the gods' temples scattered throughout the territory of 20,000 Balinese and religion that rules the life of his people. From birth to death the tradition that life is marked by ceremonies in honor of the spirits and while the women spend their days smoking Feed him with altars, men engage in all'artiginato are masters in the notch of wood, sculpture and painting, alternating art to farming. These ancient farmers who celebrate their dead with feasts flooded gamelan music (their traditional music) where the atmosphere is joyful and serene.
The cremation of the dead is the Balinese ceremony more 'important reason for a lively celebration with a procession around the city with light, color, perfume, incense, music and fun.
It is not difficult to find anyone during the holiday in Bali. We visited Ubud, a town to 'internal' s island, we have witnessed the cremation of a deceased king. Walk down the street, dressed from head to toe strictly (both men and women can not have bare legs) in a crowd of noisy people, stunned by the noise, music, smells, enchanted by happiness of a ceremony we are absolutely unrelated.
Visit temples in Bali, you can not miss the main are the most 'beautiful and full of atmosphere:
The temple Pura Uluwatu Luhur, perched atop a cliff overlooking the ocean near Kuta, (a favorite destination for surfers from around the world), the temple Pura Tanah Lot is still inhabited by monks, the place where the sea you can visit the most beautiful sunset in Bali, the bat cave temple of Goa Lawah impact strong enough: we attended a church service where they gathered for the tips in a crowd of people busy and frenetic bring baskets and anything else on the altar in honor of the gods.
But the impressive thing is that the altar at the foot of a cave within which (and I would say outside) live peaceful blacks massed thousands of bats each other. And so 'in this temple (one of the most' famous) the background music in the ceremony is the shrill sound of all these bats deemed sacred and untouchable by the people. We think we can not 'leave Bali without visiting at least three temples, we we saw others:
The Elephant cave temple, not far from Ubud, north of this however, is the temple of Gunung Kawi, the temple dating back to 11th century which saw 10 kings buried, the particularity of these precious stones is that they are ancient immersed in a green valley with dense tropical vegetation, waterfalls and rice terraces and palm superb.
But perhaps not to be missed is the temple of water Ulun Danu, dedicated to the goddess of the lake, located on Lake Batur in a large garden with flowers, surrounded by altars with pagoda roofs made of palm fiber, where they walk colored people bringing in the head with perfect balance baskets of woven palm leaves filled with offerings to the gods.
To visit the temples you need to show respect to gods, wearing a sarong to cover her legs and wear a band of fabric at the waist.
The nature of the 'island of Bali is explosive volcanoes, lakes, mountains, white beaches and black sand beaches, rice fields and palm trees everywhere. We were impressed by the numerous rice terraces cultivated with difficulty from these Balinese farmers who tried to snatch farmland vegetation very luxuriant. The monsoon rains in Bali ensure abundant from December to April so the best time to visit is from May to October where the climate is more 'dry.
Life on the 'island costs very little and perhaps not worth the trouble to be seen is the capital Denpasar, where entire families traveling balancing scooter and pollutants in the midst of traffic and smog in the oppressive heat. But just inside the walls of this city all the rest is silence, peace, perfume, incense, flowers and iridescent colors campaigns rice, temples and people are gentle and smiling .... This is Bali
