Macau, a peninsula that stretches 5 km from the Chinese border, is far from the busy life of Hong Kong, its rhythms of life, economic development ... yet beautiful, placid, is one of the main tourist attractions, is home to ten million visitors annually, many of them in Hong Kong and to seek their fortune in the numerous casinos that are scattered in this place. In Macau you can breathe the atmosphere of strong Portuguese rule, it blows everywhere looked relaxed, typically Mediterranean, and it is strange and beautiful note this perfect blend of East and West. (Photo 1) The cobbled streets and winding, the temperature sweet, tastes and smells of the kitchen, make it a delight to walk along its streets. Getting to Macao from Hong Kong is very simple, leave continuously from Macao Ferry Terminal comfortable and fast hydrofoils that lead to your destination in one hour. Arriving at the port you can take a taxi or a bus (they go all the time) which leads into the heart, in the heart of Macau, in the most old and ancient, then it is also the most beautiful. (Photo 2) comes the first thing that strikes you is Largo Senado, a square among the oldest in Asia and among the most features, paved with broad black stripes and embellished by a fountain gushing in the middle. (Photo 3) The square is surrounded by colonial buildings and Baroque pastel in warm colors, one of the most beautiful and the Leal Senado, the windows with green shutters, the front light, flanked by a stone staircase leads to a garden and the library and classroom of the Senate. Conspicuous by its white facade, among the bright colors of other buildings, the Holy House of Mercy, one of the oldest missions of these places. (Photo 4) If you continue walking you can reach the Igreja de Sao Domingos, a traditional Portuguese colonial church in Baroque style by yellow facade, beautiful inside, with an altar and prominent central cream. (Photo 5) And 'beautiful to walk in these streets always full of people, tourists, students, laughing, walking, to research and discover the flavors of this beautiful peninsula. Even in this place are numerous banquets and sweet street food, especially around monuments and tourist attractions packed with people, but there are also good shops, well-known brands ... the excitement of Hong Kong is far away, but the economic development arrived here. Near the Church of San Domenico and the Museum, who was born there on the side, you can walk toward the monument that is Macau, the Ruinas de Sao Paulo, Rua taking away from Pahl, a road characteristics, typically made up of houses and buildings Chinese, with old wooden windows, small balconies and narrow, a gift from a past still present. To open up, on top of a staircase, the view of the symbol of the peninsula ... the ruins of an ancient church ... the Church of St. Paul. (Photo 6) Only the beautiful stone facade remained of the Christian church, dating from the early 1600s and built by the Jesuits, was to be magnificent, a monument of Christian art exceptional. The facade is divided into orders, and is richly decorated with statues and sculptures. Above the apex of the triangular section is a dove in bronze, below, within a niche, the statue of Baby Jesus. In the niche below the big statue of Mary. Observing all is well understand why, when once the church was finished, was hailed as one of the most important Christian monuments of Asia. The test is still arouse the curiosity that these ruins undoubtedly charming.
