A couple in Phuket. Our trip to the most beautiful beaches of Thailand

After many years of holidays in the Caribbean, who finally decide to move here is our route to the East, we want to do that to a super tourist places such as Thailand, stopping off down in Phuket. The period chosen, like all times, is between March and April, when it is winter and reaches its maximum saturation of its classical freddo.La reputation of this island at times before, unfairly, but all other aspects that should be decanted with more resonance, but we are not interested in the classic urban legends, which then are not very different from other places we visited. What we seek in our journey is always coming into contact with the locals, understand their way of living life, in full respect for their customs and traditions (... and we guarantee that the famous Feast of 'Water, or Thai New Year, is one example), and that's how we did this time despite only two weeks.
This is something that confirms what you read and hear people say when you're in Thailand, where indifferent, you are truly the "Land of Smiles".
We do not consider the height to suggest how to find the flight most 'economic or the best accommodation but we can ensure that a trip like this really leaves you something in it, not least the desire to return even better to know this reality, so to face life with respect and dignity for all and everything and discover, on an island like Phuket, those corners of paradise, untainted by mass tourism, which still exist.
Even here, if one wants to see with different eyes, unable to find the true soul of Thailand, made of simple things, kindness, sympathy and .... Smiles.
After these small, but important, personal considerations come to the basics and hopefully useful for those who want to go to Phuket.
FLIGHT: The choice of flight, after various options, fell on the Thai national airline. Ticket price in line with other carriers (about 1000 Euro per person with 3 transfers) but the service, comfort and punctuality, and much higher, given the almost 11 hour flight, no small thing. What should not be ignored, hoping not to have needed the ticket refund every penny for a cancellation on the day of departure (subject to a simple medical certificate).
ACCOMMODATION: We have excluded to avoid Patong stay awake until 4 in the morning and we opted for un'albergo, Italian management, Karon Beach found on the Internet (excellent choice as price, quality of service and friendliness of the staff) .
JOURNEYS: during the day without a doubt the scooter. The island is not great, the beaches are all easily accessible ..... attention only to drive on the left, you need a little 'get out of hand. Service is not insignificant that our hotel also rented scooters, so we avoided the classic bureaucratic (our driver's license is valid and the helmet is compulsory for the driver only). Turn the scooter allows you to enjoy sensational landscaped corners, make a stop in small villages and hidden beaches, or, as has happened to us, to stop or move the elephants to feed a piece of bread to some a little monkey ' curious. For night shifts better to rely on a number of tuk tuks, known throughout the island, there are 24-24h and do not cost much.
BEACHES: from the naturalistic point of view they are all wonderful, even though Patong is undoubtedly the most 'crowded. Our favorite is Ya Nui Beach, just before the picturesque fishing village of Rawai. The beach is not great, so little frequented, and at a certain time in the late afternoon you may come by himself. A special mention deserves Freedom Beach, Phuket beach reachable only by sea with their traditional boats, but it is definitely worth it.
For most islands' known there is only spoiled for choice, there are tourist offices that organize daily tours, the important thing is to always treat the price. One thing, very pleasant, that you find in all the marquees of the beaches are famous ... .. an authentic Thai massage cure, find a psycho-physical never felt before and its benefits are long lasting and extend even over holiday .
ENTERTAINMENT: everything you want in a whole island .... but Patong is unique. Maybe other people will deny it but, personally, I have to admit that it is in Patong that in many other areas more 'or less touristy island, we had the impression that crime (or petty) is almost nonexistent. This feeling is very pleasant for those who like us, at least in the small parentheses is called vacation, want to forget the many everyday problems and stress that accompanies us for most of his life.
FOOD: What is undoubtedly subjective, their cuisine someone please others can not. For us it is extraordinary, in all cases no one dies of hunger, are from pizza to pasta, meat, fish (and fish ...!), Vegetables, and most of all '.
PRICES: almost laughable (1 Euro = approximately 48 Bath). The funny thing is that sometimes you find yourself dealing for pennies ..... and at the end when you realize even leave a tip. In all cases, the art of the deal is their custom, therefore, besides its fun at times, be respected.
At this point the only thing I add is still the one to put in budget, at least once in their lifetime, a trip to this beautiful land, caressed by crystal clear sea, embraced by a lush and beautiful and animated by a unique population that despite all the problems that can haunt even knows how to meet with a smile. Have a good trip at all.
