Chang Mai - Thailand travel diary

We decided to leave the chaotic city life to spend three days trekking in the Thai jungle buying a package that has brought us from Bangkok to Chiang Mai train (14 hours). After the long crossed that proved to be painless view the brilliant choice to use the night train we were taken to the station and delivered in a first and then the guest house. Usual procedures of ritual and short briefing in the evening with him who was our guide for the next three days, and then proceed to visit the "night market" in Chang Mai.
The shipment included nine experienced rambo ready to every kind of adventure made the bag and made breakfast we climbed into the jeep to reach the point X. Goal of the day was a long crossing of the jungle, to finally reach our base camp where we spent the night. The route was fairly easy, although still interesting, thanks to the lush vegetation that surrounded us. Even in an hour and a half we reached the place of lunch. Note unsatisfactory to our guides who were not exactly the image of professionalism. In any case I am able to show teak plantations that we are accustomed to seeing in the form of tables or chairs, and characteristics of termites tane but every other type of information has been off-limit. Consumed rancio indiana jones by good, we're back in gear to reach the waterfalls into the public bathroom where we have a shower to say the least frost. Washed and scented another fifteen minute walk and here is the base camp for the night. This is a village inhabited by the Karen people (un'etnia Chinese origin) covered by the Thai government that gives them pieces of jungle for rice cultivation and breeding of livestock for their survival. Go to our great surprise we had knowledge of the one true thing that could fall into what everyone imagines when thinking of a jungle adventure in the house. Huts built with leaf roof and walls, to say the least breathable, very characteristics that the problem was in this period, the temperature at night in the mountains can not be described as pleasant, and our package included a survival bag miserable summer, a cover and a sort of pseudo mattress that certainly does not make the fact more comfortable to sleep on a wooden floor "massive." Azzannata in haste and fury the dinner consisting of rice with the beauty of three side dishes, we gathered around a fire prepared for the occasion in a beautiful starry sky cheered by proposteci unlikely stories from our picturesque guide and an inappropriate time, were nine in the evening, we were directed to the "bedroom" in an attempt to crush a nap.

Alarm clock with light of dawn with the adorable pigs that grunt scorazzavano in the yard, we expect the second day dedicated to running between the steep hills and streams that are part of this environment. The second day is spent sula along the lines of the first ... walk, lunch, walk, what struck us most was the beauty of the second base camp occupied by one family and built near a river course used in our bathroom.
Usual night spent fighting the cold, although invariably in the evening gathered around the fire one of our members has skillfully extracted from his saccoccia a bottle of whiskey a well-known scores with the companions of misfortune.

The third day was the most eventful. Spent the morning on the back of trained pachyderms and afternoon to descend the rapids of a river that had turned into a challenge the rest of the world Italy, thanks to our gondolier and our proverbial Italian misconduct. The challenge ended with un'onorevole silver medal but had lost all our oars ... we could not do more.
Rose again in the jeep we left the jungle and we returned to our guest house in Chiang Mai. In the evening, destroyed after the efforts made in the afternoon race, we finally laid our tired limbs in a real bed for a very long and deep sleep.
