Destination: Far East - Thailand - Bangkok and Ko Samui
E 'was our first trip to East a world completely different customs and habits from our West Africa. You can not go to Thailand and stay at least a few days in Bangkok.
Bangkok in Thailand is also known by the name of Krungthep, the city of angels.
Founded in 1782 as a fourth capital of Thailand, today is a metropolis with over 6 million inhabitants.
Upon arrival in Bangkok that you wonder first of all is the chaos and huge traffic that is spreading everywhere ... even to move between short-often by taxi you can take a half hour .. the roads are completely invaded by different ethnic groups .. Asian, Chinese, Indians, Arabs ... kiosks and shops everywhere! and not to mention the smells of Bangkok! everywhere in the streets there are stalls and shops that churn out the meat to grasshoppers ... frittelle and food of every kind!
Milestone of a visit to Bangkok is the area of the Grand Palace where the Wat Phra Kaew, or Temple of the Emerald Buddha. This is a magnificent complex of temples (Wat means temple in Thai) associated with the residences of the Royal Family of Thailand, a destination for many tourists and pilgrims.
Another sacred place in Bangkok is the Wat Pho, the oldest monastery in the capital, where the temple dedicated to Buddha lying (or sleeping). This statue is characteristic for its eccezionalil size 46 meters long and 15 high.
Between the old town and the area of large hotels is the Traimit Wat, a temple dedicated to the Golden Buddha. The statue is 3 meters high and weighs over 5 tons.
Bangkok surprising for cohesion between the "old" and "new" ... it has many interesting historical things to see but also many buildings of a typical metropolis .. we were at dinner on one of the tallest skyscrapers in Thailand the Baiyoke Sky Hotel, where the top floor there is a fabulous restaurant made of glass and equipped with a rotating platform on the outside where you can admire Bangkok with all its night lights ..
Inevitable for those who go in Thailand is a visit to the Damnoen Saduak market galeggiante fabulous! Even if you find a market now flooded with tourists always makes us a strange to see this colorful market where local people sell fruit and vegetables but spices of all kinds .. the women with their boats to run the channels and their bargaining merci!
Ko Samui in the Andaman Sea was the last stop on our trip to Thailand! classic tourist island with a beautiful sea anyway .. not great as in other places but still good! In Ko Samui as indeed throughout thailand find housing solutions for all types and for each portfolio! many hotels and restaurants (many of which italiiani!) ..
Travel advice, not so much for the sea but for the many interesting things that Thailand offers tourists to visit! and then is a world so different from our experience that East must be sure to see something completely different ...
