Arriving by ship (Atlantic Coast) to the port of St. John's, capital of the island and capital of the State of Antigua and Barbuda. Dorina and landed with a couple of friends in cruise, we took a taxi to a modern Grand Tour.
Leaving the city that is located near the harbor we headed south west to Darkwood Beach, a wide beach of fine white sand lapped by azure sea. Same environment but less wild in the nearby Crab Hill Bay. Driving along the south coast in Old Road quick detour to a road that runs through the small hilly tropical forests where they make a fine show villages, banana and a tiny Anglican church of stone. Before returning to the coast we stopped at a flea market that sold fancy goods for tourists where you enjoyed the view of the harbor of Falmouth from the top of a hill. Waive Falmouth we went to the historic English Harbor in the past when the British fleet in the Caribbean that still retains some vestiges renovated Georgian-style and a small museum of relics of the period including the bed of Admiral Horatio Nelson as a young man who stayed here. The most beautiful view of English Harbor, however, is from a hill above where there are some ruins of ramparts UK. In the distance we see a very English obscured the outline of the island of Montserrat is famous for its volcano in full activity. Then we head east on the Atlantic side, Nare is so calm but the vast beach of Half Moon Bay is among the best on the island and what's more we are the only visitors, take advantage for a bath and eat a sandwich that our friends had obtained the table of the ship. Next stop at Devil's Bridge, a natural arch near a scoglera where high waves crashing. Far and elegant environment in equipping Long Bay, classic beach surrounded by palm trees. Through the inside of the island between the countryside and pastures, here was once an expanse of sugar cane, the white gold of the Caribbean, now remained to witness the time the two old windmills of Betty's Hope Plantation with its small and insignificant museum.
Going inside we learned from a brief shower followed by the sun that greets us in the return to St.John 's. Leave the taxi and runs through the center of the capital to the Anglican Cathedral which is located on a hill and is surrounded by the cemetery. The exterior is stone with tall towers and the inside is covered with wood. The rest of the city, rather poor and chaotic, does not present a crab. Since we had we went to the covered market in front of which lies the colorful statue of former dictator, really kich. A few steps to the harbor and we returned to our ship.
