Arriving in the Dominican Republic in Marina Casa de Campo in La Romana with ship Costa Atlantica. Along with Dorina and a pair known cruise we took a taxi to Baiahibe, sleepy village with a bay of white sand, palm trees and colorful boats. From here a motorboat piloted by a young man with mastery of the place we went at full speed to the island of Saona. The island is officially uninhabited but there is a beach full of semi-equipped tourists, many of them Italian lying on white sand surrounded by palm trees. After a 'hour of rest we take our boat for the return to Baiahibe. During the trip the young sailor stopped the boat and with an exceptional gesture athletic diving in the pristine and grasps his hand a big starfish in bringing the surface to make it stroked. A few miles and we were the "natural swimming pools, limbidissimo sea area where the water comes to his knees even several hundred meters from shore. The show is exceptional not only for its pure waters but also because the opposite coast is superb for the beach and vegetation: large royal palms develop their large fronds to the sky from a postcard, one of the most spectacular in the Caribbean. A few more miles and we were in front of a limestone cliff where it seems the morning sun browns the iguanas. The boat then takes us to the beach where we Baiahibe another bit of sea. From here, again by taxi to Altos de Chavon, the recent reconstruction of a village at the time of Columbus. The site is not great but a tourist shopping center but the views offered by the square opposite the church offers a bird's-eye view of the canyon path by the river Chavon, a set of films like "Rambo" and "Apocalypse Now". When darkness falls we accompany us to the port of Marina of Casa de Campo where we board the ship to stay overnight. The next morning the ship moves a few miles off the island and even Catalina. Here at the edge of spears on the beach we passed the small island, the classic Caribbean beach with clear water, white sand and palm trees but too crowded by cruise passengers. In the afternoon the lance us back on the boat with which we leave the Dominican Republic.
