A disappointing Dominican Republic I visited during February

My experience in this country has been somewhat negative. We did not go in the classic destinations, but in a resort off the usual routes, in Juan Dolio to be autonomous.
The only wonder is Saona with its natural pools, everything else has become too "Italianate" holiday too fake, too much crime and too much corruption.
Juan Dolio become like Miami, the gap between the poor and increases more and more tourists because they are building anywhere and great multinalzionali have no respect for the landscape, tall buildings 20 storey building on the beach. Santo Domingo city is dirty and poorly treated.
The reef does not exist, or maybe I just have not found ...
All in all we did not affect left, we met many people and we visited more than we could, we saw whales in Samana, we hiked to the falls where Bayaguana and have shot the movie Blue Lagoon, and we still rested. .. outside the villages do not go there to be careful and then there is nothing, there are no shops, there are places where people dance, some ol restaurant but mostly Italian and when I travel I avoid Italian cooking, I like to eat the delicacies of the place. The Creole cuisine consists of rice, beans and mostly chicken or fish, a delicacy in other words. Raphael was our angel, has a restaurant "La Brisa" the only Dominican restaurant and has graced the evening.
It 'was an experience and I am glad I did.
