For the second time in the Caribbean, for the second time an island of the Great Antilles, for the first time the spirit of the Caribbean as I see it.
In fact, after having visited the length and breadth of Cuba, returning to the U.S. had left the image of a land still untouched by the beauty and the memories of the warmth of the people, accompanied by melancholy flavor of common sufferings and difficulties.
Landed in the Dominican Republic, is immediately the true festive spirit of the Caribbean. Already at the airport and Merengue Baciata welcome you and accompany you this rate for the vacancy.
Our starting point was the location of Bahyaibe here we had our village and from there we left for the day trip.
We riperecorso history by visiting its capital, Santo Domingo (the oldest city of the Americas), with its alcazar, its walls and its colonial party.
The visit to Altos de Chavon, a replica of a Spanish village on top of a hill, it was rivelarta quite disappointing because it is unrealistic that an imitation has nothing to do with the surrounding landscape. From the top of this hill, however, you can enjoy a beautiful view of Rio Chavon, famous for being the place of filming of "Apocalypse Now". We then climbed back up the river with boats and navigation that has enabled us to appreciate the wonderful nature of the hinterland. The thing that really leaves you breathless, however, the beaches and crystal clear sea. The coast is surrounded by countless coconut palms and royal palms, and all this grandeur to each eye surrounding the horizons, we note that you are a true paradise tropicale.I really Dominicans love their land and try to express this their feelings in any way, the most obvious is the amount of Naif paintings that can be found in every corner of the country. Paintings are very simple but fully represent the spirit and COLR Caribbean would be a pity not portaresene a bit at home!
DO NOT MISS: the view the island of Saona. Almost uninhabited island (there is only a small fishing village) is not hosted inside any tourist but in compensation offers turquoise water, white sand and coconut palms ..... want something more!
