A trip along the famous Schlossenstrasse, in the heart of Styria, Austria

After leaving Graz, intending to proceed towards the Schlossenstrasse, Route of the Castles, in the evening we head to Bad Gleichenberg, a spa town a bit 'but understated. In local pubs, the drink that is the most popular is the apple juice, served also mixed with mineral water (I tried it ... oh, well!) We stayed in a small guest house, run by Mrs. Elizabeth, on Bad Gleichenberg hill above a beautiful room with sloping ceilings, and plenty of homemade breakfast, all for just 50 €.
The first step is to Kapfstein, but it is a castle converted into a hotel.
We head towards the fortress of Riegersburg along roads surrounded by green fields and fields of pumpkins. Parked below the fortress, the road is all uphill, climbing up the drawbridge and the castle, perched on the cone of an ancient volcano.
We continue to Voitsberg then, is August, it's Sunday, almost everything is closed. We find a Gasthaus outdoors, there seems to be a nice place, we order a mixed grill for two, we get an avalanche of excellent meat ....
At nearby Piber, we find a herd of Lipizzaner horses-show, the atmosphere is wonderful, also crossed the hills, but 12 € for the entrance to the stables seemed to us too.
