This year we decided to go in South Tyrol (Italian), and since arriving in Austria is a spit cross the border and go to visit Innsbruck and Salzburg, the journey is long enough, especially in Salzburg but it is really penalty. For the nights we had no difficulty finding those that are considered by us and the farm prices are not too large.
The city of Innsbruck has originated at what was once the ancient Roman fortress of Veldidena. It takes its name from the Inn and Bruck, that bridge over the River Inn and remained a border town throughout the Roman Empire. In 1232 he was elevated to the rank of city in 1248 and passed between the domains of the Counts of Tyrol, only to be sold to Rudolf IV of Habsburg, who named it the capital of Tyrol, in 1363. It became the official residence of Emperor Maximilian I, the city experienced a period of great splendor and economic growth between the sixteenth and the seventeenth century. With the Peace of Pressburg (1805) went to Bavaria before returning to Austria with the legitimate Congress of Vienna in 1815. In modern history was temporarily occupied by Italian troops in 1918 before being severely bombed during World War II. Of great artistic value is definitely the Goldenes Dachl (the Golden Roof), the balcony of a residential palace of Maximilian I characterized by a roof made of tiles in flakes of gold and copper railings richly frescoed by Kolderer, N. Turing the Elder. Late medieval-style buildings are limited to the center, while the neo-Gothic style recurs in some buildings such as the Hofkirche (1533-1563), a church with three naves designed by Andrea Crivelli. The tomb of Maximilian I, outstanding for its shape and characterized by 28 bronze statues, which lies within it, is in Renaissance style. Of some importance is also the town hall tower, complex dating back to 1358. Belong to the Baroque period but some religious buildings like the church of the Jesuits, the Mariahilfkirche, the church and convent of Wilten, but also private buildings such as the Fugger Palace and the Palace of the Provincial Diet. Of importance is also the city's castle, the castle of Ambras.
