Lovers of Christmas and the atmosphere created by colorful lights and snow, we decided to leave for a destination best suited to enjoy the festive period: Vienna!
The city is superbly decorated as befits his rank "imperial" and every building and monument buy charm thanks to the wonderful Christmas markets consist of beautiful wooden houses which are located strategically in the major historical and tourist interest.
In front of the Rathaus (town hall) for instance, is the largest marketplace that makes kids go crazy for the decorations "fatate" deli trees. Indeed they hang red hearts, candy, goblins and so on!
The pastry chefs are at their peak with overflowing showcases of sweets (cakes and sacher mega donuts in primis) and at each corner there are stalls offering punch to warm up and are packed with people chatting and drinking.
Apart from the look and Christmas, of course, remains starordinaria the beauty of the city and its many attractions can not be seen with 2 or 3 days. Would require a minimum stay of 4 days complete. Passionate story of Sissi and Franz Joseph, I went to see the Hofburg (the imperial winter residence) and Schonbrunn (the summer). On the internet you will find everything what you will about this. I can confirm only that there are pieces of history that "speak". All'Albertina Mueseum And then there was the exhibition of Schiele (whose works are not suitable for an audience that shocked). Do not miss the Belvedere for the beauty of the palaces and gardens for which of course works of art included, from Klimt to Kokoschka etc. To get a general idea of the city is very useful to have a tour by tram 1, which runs the Ring.
We stayed at Hydn, excellent value for money, located in Mariahilferstrasse, centralissimo and close to the subway. You can book advances without leave, just the credit card number. I loved the madness of the potatoes in foil sold along the roads to € 1 / 1, 50, and economic ideals to plug the holes and even the sausage when cooked and sold along with rye bread.
For any info and ask me ... but go to Vienna!
