A couple of friends wanted to go back to Salzburg, and to make the journey together ... come too? We looked ... more, one less, we were already 3 or 4 times, the city is beautiful ... but yes, we are!
At home we discovered that this was the seventh time and so I decided to return to review the Salzkammergut lakes, reporting to Salzburg for overnight stays and evening stroll.
The problem was where to park the car for the night, but after scouring the net, Hotel Ganslhof in Vogelweiderstraße 6, as well as being a stone's throw from the pedestrian area of the Mirabell Gardens, the only result was to have a convenient and ample parking in his yard.
Book the two non-smoking rooms, 1 October in the afternoon we arrived in Salzburg, parked the car, formalities, luggage room e. .. via a walk to Salzburg ... there seemed to be at our house, but Salzburg is always beautiful and we love to come back.
In accordance with our habits, the first dinner in Salzburg? of course ... at Stern ... gulaschsuppe enjoying the inevitable.
Our program, living a short distance from Mestre, provided for the half-day round-half-back, two days in Salzburg and one day in the Salzkammergut, but the same evening, Resica account that all four were walking in an environment now our family, we decided to change everything, accepting my proposal to do a day in the Salzkammergut and one day in neighboring Germany, Burghausen, a town dominated by the longest castle in Europe, 1,051 m of turreted buildings, houses, churches, shops, stables, courtyards, arches, defensive walls and so was the living environment of its inhabitants, nobles, soldiers, artisans and servants.
Burghausen Altötting and nearby, the city of churches, are being given a description.
On October 2, hearty breakfast and head to the nearby Salzkammergut.
The weather is still uncertain, but we waited five lakes, Lake Fuschl, the Wolgangsee, the Traun, and finally the Altersee Mondsee, all linked by a ring road that allows you to take their banks to return to Salzburg.
We had two very specific goals, one in the town of St. Wolfgang to his rack railway that would have taken us to over 1,700 m to see the lakes and the other from Gmunden, the pottery town, where the bells of municipal carillon were made with this material.
Being realized in respect speed limits, since the controls out there, we came across the Fuschlsee a wedding ... all in traditional dress and the bride arrived on a gig where there were two cassette trumpeters announcing the event. Traditions that we have disappeared ... pity, because we have lost a part of our roots. Riipartiamo the time of the Wolfgangsee, St. Wolfgang, where there is a small station and a narrow gauge railway, the SchafbergBahn with trains cog in their two cars carrying tourists along the 5,850 m of track, over a drop of 1,200 m to reach the top of Schafberg, at an altitude of 1,783 me where you can enjoy a wonderful panorama, with the weather.
The view to the lake below and the peaks of the nearby Taurus is beautiful, breathtaking views.
Lunch at the Haus strictly Teutonic Schafbergspitze and then ... All aboard and down in St. Wolfgang to allocate towards Gmunden.
Crossed Bad Ischl, stop in to visit the peninsula jutting Traunsee where is the Traunkirchen, a baroque church dedicated to Mary Krönungdi, where is the famous Fischerkanzel, a statuary representation of Peter, his boat and fish caught with the network.
The natural monument of the homonymous chapel there Johannesberg Johannesberg, whose documents date back to the 1356.
We arrived at Gmunden in the late afternoon, but that does not prevent us from observing the Rathaus, the Town Hall with its Glockenspiel, a singular and unique carillon of 24 bells in ceramics.
The time to go quickly in the adjacent Stadtpfarrkirche Kirchenplatz then continue, now with the darkness, toward the last two lakes, the Mondsee and Attersee, ending our day with the return to Salzburg.
On October 3 was spent and Altötting Burghausen in Germany, dedicated to the subject of another description.
On 4 October, after a hearty breakfast at the Hotel Ganslhof, we headed to the market by Mozart, in the center of Salzburg.
Without the recent purchases, including the inevitable chocolates Salzburg, the Mozartkugeln Mozarttaler and we made our way back to Italy.
Before the two toll tunnel under the Tauern and Katschberg the Tauertunnel, we decided to take the old road leading from Radstadt in Rennweg am Katschberg, ride a bit 'longer but offers a much more beautiful landscape than the fast highway .
The wonderful day and almost no traffic on this stretch of beautiful scenic road have given a very nice tone to our return, allowing us to admire the beauty of the mountains of the Tauern group.
Resumption of the highway to Villach time has put in ugly, dark clouds were coming in Austria and Italy coming leaving predict what we would encounter.
Two more charges in Austria, the excellent pork Gasthaus & Fleischerei Fruhmann Wernberg Villach all'InterSpar and then bottled for gulaschsuppe, sausages and other local products that are not found in Italy.
Although the torrential rain encountered in Italy has distracted our minds, as visitors in this short holiday in Austria and Germany has repaid in full, because it is really worth the effort, since these beautiful tourist destinations, with the Salzkammergut St. Wolfgang Austria and then in Burghausen in Germany, being less known in other locations frequented by organized tourism, we have reserved the most pleasant surprises with what we could see visiting them.
Have a good trip.
