40 years after the Vienna meeting also the first visit and after the second and 30 ... ... well .... I had not seen much, apart from the Cathedral of Santo Stefano, a distracted around downtown and the famous castle of Schoenbrunn Palace d ' Habsburg summer this time I visit only on the outside, strolling along the well-kept and beautiful park full of flowers and an Italian garden.
But this time Vienna is for my three-day visit, a triumph of palaces and museums.
Sure it was nice to stroll in the large pedestrian area around the cathedral of St. Stephen with its roof color, the Graben with the statue that commemorates the end of the plague and the elegant shops, the park with the elegant Town Hall in the restoration and the adjacent buildings of the Parliament, the University and the Opera House, but the triumph was the Hofburg, which is the winter palace of the Habsburgs, which is composed of a dozen buildings, the church where the wedding took place and funerals are kept and where the hearts of emperors and empresses, parks and courtyards with many statues, the palace of the Treasury, the Royal Chapel and the Palace of the Spanish riding school with the white horses that are bred lipiziani Lipica in the Karst Trieste, but a few miles across the border in territory now Slovenian.
The Hofburg castle courtyard is literally made up of about 2,400 rooms now occupy museums and exhibitions, but what I'm excited for a whole day is the building that houses the personal apartments of Sissi and her husband, Emperor Franz Joseph .
We've all seen movies with Romy Schneider that television transmits several times with great success, the more I am hosting the Trieste Miramare Castle, the residence of Maximilian of Habsburg, brother of Francis Joseph, who hosted several times a peripatetic Empress depressed and in constant travel and escape from boredom and formality of the Viennese court.
The beautiful princess was depressed eternametne for the suicide of his son Rudolf in Mayerling, was fanatical form and diets, long hair that took away 4 hours per day for the care and cleaning, was riding on the limit sports injury closely linked to Hungary and also because according to the malicious gossip was as a lover in Budapest, the Hungarian count Andryass has dedicated one of the main streets.
In the apartment of the Empress one can admire its beautiful rooms that contain clothes, her jewelry, exercise equipment futuristic for its time, photos of children and many portraits that bring out its beauty and elegance.
The apartment of the Emperor is more sober, but very interesting. There are many portraits of beloved wife, his simple bed where he slept and only woke up at 3.30 in the night was still deep and subjected to a bath, rubbed by a servant asleep.
There are the rooms where the ministers received and hearings attended by up to 100 people weekly, even simple people who asked for the hearing to ask for favors and that the emperor listened for a few minutes by responding to each.
Too bad they can not take any pictures while you may remember fqrlo in the basement where you can visit sets of dishes and cups and trays and precious lunchbox that were part of imperial furniture.
Vienna takes for its palaces and museums and I have visited many.
What struck me most is the Belvedere Palace upper and lower, separated by a long park-garden fountains adorned with elegant classic.
In the palace there are less gigantic and extraordinary paintings of the Viennese painter 800 Mackart that was unknown to me and I loved it. He was a painter of eroticism with portraits of beautiful women and others as a tribute to the noblewoman Caterina Cornaro of Venice which is a masterpiece.
In the palace there is more scenic and elegant with a rich art gallery famous picture of the kiss by Klimt and Egon Schiele in Vienna of the great painter who had already enjoyed an exhibition in Como and I could not only deepen the Belvedere but also in another Viennese museum of museums in the quadrangle in front of the Hofburg.
This museum is truly exceptional with many classic masterpieces of great painters of different nationalities, one of the best I have visited around the world.
Unfortunately, having visited a dozen museums on this trip, I do a little 'confused and can not remember the authors, but I've seen masterpieces Kokoshka, Chagall, Picasso, Matisse, Miro, Cezanne, Van Gogh, Brughel, Renoir, Monet , in addition to our Greek El Raphael, Tintoretto, Caravaggio, Canaletto, Bronzino, Pinturicchio, Michelangelo, Modigliani, Guttuso, Carra, de Chirico and many other children of the Renaissance, 800 and 900.
In particular, I visited the Leopold Museum in Vienna, which contains the largest collection of paintings by Egon Schiele and Klimt and Kokoschka and the other an exhibition in the museum district, dedicated to the great Salvador Dali that I have seen very few pictures and beautiful many other artists who have inspired him not only for the art of painting, but also for statues of various types and compositions.
I also remember the Vienna State Opera with the star dedicated to our floor in front of Giuseppe Verdi, Mozart and the statue of Goethe and another museum in a historic building, Albertinum, another heart attack and the rich art gallery oldest botanical garden near the pavilion that had to be beautiful but now rather neglected and turned into bars.
Graben in the central pedestrian street there are elegant modern black bronze statues depicting the characters of a science fiction movie.
I also liked the Naschmarkt, a more than two centuries old market which houses open air stalls along a tree that contains many restaurants and bars where you can eat fish and other local specialties at affordable prices.
Strangely I have not seen the beautiful blue Danube, which I later discovered that he was not far from the Prater, the big wheel and the great amusement park that I visited the desert in the early morning and evening under the lights and closing with the infernal machines that I watched as they are to experience a heart attack and sudden vertical descents at speed along endless towers, or a wheel much larger than the modern and ancient classic.
Vienna is perfect and some say rather boring, but I do not agree. I think from the point of view of culture is one of the most interesting cities in Europe and very appealing to the great past of an empire that dominated for centuries the center of the continent, and that despite the centuries passed fully preserves his memory was no more importance for horse carriages that pass through the old town and its famous cafés where to taste delicious desserts such as apple strudel or Sachertorte to say nothing of its chocolates.
I wanted to take a trip outside Vienna for an experience of Austrian wines in the famous ... ... ... .. in the midst of hills and overlooking the Danube, but the many attractions of the city have compelled me to wander through the center to the discovery of always interesting and fascinating places.
