We chose to go to VIENNA for Easter 2004 with Trenitalia only because there was a promotion to 39 euros for the trip to berth, and so we said: "VIENNA is not we have never seen it, why not take advantage?" We made the tickets and then we booked via internet two apartments for 3 nights at the apartment Gally (www.Gally.biz) that we found in a strategic position in the city, just outside the center, near the west station and connected very well to any area of VIENNA.
The idea that I had in VIENNA was that of a city that has remained tied to a glorious past and that is static and old-fashioned, like a museum, and instead I found a city that has managed to integrate fully the greatness and grandeur of its monuments and palaces Imperial, with the avant-garde architecture and has been able to keep alive the interest in culture, from the Habsburgs to the present. So in Stephenplatz, the imposing Gothic cathedral of St. Stefano is mirrored in the Haas Haus, a modern building built by round forms in the early 90th And similarly, in the capital of music in addition to the Opera House with its concerts and houses the museum of composers such as Mozart, Schubert, Strauss and Beethoven, is the Museum of the music that you visit. The Haus der Musik is an interactive museum where you can experience the sound in all respects through headphones, interactive screens, test instruments, sound galleries, environments that reproduce the sound world of prenatal life, the sounds of the future and, even more fun, you can run virtually the VIENNA Philharmonic orchestra. Then try to sit on the "sound chair" where every movement of any part of your body is a sound! We all enjoyed a lot, big and small!
Since his time with us was clement, we visited over all'Haus der musik just another museum: the museum of natural history with huge fossil skeletons of dinosaurs and an unimaginable variety of terrestrial and marine wildlife!
Are not missed visits to the classic imperial residences.
Inside dell'Hofburg we visited the apartments of the Kaiser and Silberkammer; in the first we were surprised at the room of the Princess Sissi but especially his gym (which is quite bizarre for its time), in Silberkammer we were able to admire the silverware courtyard, the kitchen utensils and table linen.
With another ticket, we then visited the Schatzkammer chamber that is the treasure that among the objects on display the crown of the Habsburgs from 1600 to 1918 and the crown of the Holy Roman Empire. Outside dall'Hofburg the Burggarten, one of the many parks of this city, is home to the former greenhouse courtyard, a glass and iron in which there is the House of butterflies (Schmetterlinghaus) with hundreds of living butterflies , fly and reproduce in a tropical forest. The 35 degrees and 80% humidity as well as having fogged the objectives of cameras and television cameras, have literally cleared our pressure on children and the only effect was to inspire awe and amusement. However do not despair because there's a side of wonderful cafes with tables outside, ready to eat!
The visit to the Castle of Schoenbrunn, the summer residence of the emperors, it may require a full day because in addition to the rooms of the building (Tour short 20 rooms - 40 rooms long tour) there is a huge park which includes a maze of hedges to put in "style Shining ", the gardens of the desert, the Gloriette, VIENNA Zoo, Japanese gardens, and more. The sore point is that although access to the park is free, each area mentioned is a fee. Are still sold the pass, ie cumulative ticket that already include the entry (in addition to the imperial rooms) to some of these ..... the choice is yours.
