A naturalistic tour of the Plitvice Lakes and the Postojna Caves

A three-day tour to visit the National Park Plitvice Lakes and postun in the caves of Slovenia.

 

7 am: beautiful day, my wife and I start from Busto Arsizio, take the motorway Milan-Venice and Trieste, cross a stretch of Slovenia and Croatia, we enter into. Following the main road, very beautiful and scenic along the Adriatic, we head to Senj and here a strange thing happens: I stop to take some photos to panorama, and then again with the car and even after three hundred yards, after a curve I see a police car stops at a local side street and an agent who tells me to stop. After checking the documents shows me the remote speed detector that indicates 85km hour but does not display neither photos nor plate! (at that point the limit is 60 and a fine of 150 €) I explain that I found odd the speed, because I had just broken down and after a short discussion (in Italian) asks me what I pay!
After a moment's hesitation I suggest € 50 and the agent agrees.
Thinking about the points of the license (?) I ask him not to get a receipt and he agrees! ... while the other agent had stopped (by chance) another Italian car with a license plate ... I think they tried this.
Pago and continuing the journey before nightfall we arrived at Plitvice where we find a B & B (40 € per night room x) near the entrance to No. 1 in the park.

8 am opening entrance. There's just me and my wife and other 5 / 6 people, just get open is the best thing, because after you start to fill with people and the heat increases.
The ticket price is 16 € per person and includes use of the ferry and trenino.Per visited the park on foot, it takes 6 / 8 hours, but you can also choose shorter routes. We, of course, choose the longest.
Paths and walkways are grazed waterfalls, waterfalls, streams and ponds, surrounded by beautiful nature, rich in water and vegetation here and the photos you take so exaggerated!
At about 14 we end the tour and grudgingly, but fully satisfied leave. We eat a sandwich and then take the road for the return, including beautiful landscapes and deserted streets we go to Slovenia and then to the caves of postun. We arrive at 18, we find a B & B close to the caves to 46 €. (Room + 2 breakfasts); your luggage, take a shower and go eat at a pizzeria, two first courses, two desserts, water and coffee € 23. And you go to bed.

The caves open at 9 and the ticket costs 20 € per person, the tour takes about an hour and a half.
The first part is along with a train: Please do not stand up or lean, because you move to the edge of rock! Then continue on foot and as in all the caves are limestone formations curious detail, colorful salt and more or less large. Before leaving the caves below you can see the water flow of a stream. For those who have never been, at least worth a visit.
We leave that le10, 30 and take the road leading to the castle Predjama about ten km from the caves, a 13th century castle built against a rock wall overlooking the valley below and was never conquered.
Legend has it that the gentleman robber Erasmo Predjama found safe refuge in this castle, though inconvenient, to escape the Emperor Frederick III of Austria, his enemy. Only a deception of his servant, not too true, he died.
To visit the interior of the castle ticket costs € 8.
After the visit we eat a sandwich and then head for the house: we get that it's almost 20.
