Motorbike trip in Croatia - Split - Brac - Bol

Travel diary Croatia July 2002, days 11 km bike In 2800, Cavalese, Trieste, Senj,-Jezera Plitvice, Split, Bol island Brac.

June 2002: We attended the last Christmas ... This will be our first trip in motion .... We decide for Croatia, which has been recommended by several friends .... We feel that in the southern part of the country are very beautiful places, and not exploited for tourism. We decide to go down to Split.

 

Cavalese - Senj km 420

We start all 'alba of 9:00 ..... up the Valley of Fiemme to Moena, then the step of St Pellegrino, Falcade towards, and away to Belluno motorway where we enter, after which we leave for Trieste Basovizza to arrive at the Italian-Slovenian border Lipizza in us and in Slovenia.

Senj - Plitvice/Jezera - Split km 288

The goal of today is the natural park of Plitvice Jezera-, leaving the seas to take a steep road with many curves and bends, which winds up in the mountainous region of Senjski Bilo ....

We continue shipped to the park ... that we reach after 10 to 81km, Hiking on beautiful trails frà clear water lakes, waterfalls and a lush nature, climb to the top of the hill, where were the streams, which feed the lakes, the show is exciting.


To avoid having to redo the same route in descent, is a train service consisting of a strange Convoy, driven by a big Mercedes Unimog, climb on the train, which brings us back to square one, on a narrow road on a slope .. .

In the largest lake (Kozjak), is serving a boat to reach the southern part of the basin, advantage, and we sail gently and discover this wonderful place.

We conclude the visit around 16, and we decided to head towards Split.
The road runs along the border of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and in these places, are still visible signs of conflict left in 1990, you can see the signs on the houses machine guns, and the holes of mortar shells, it must be a very poor region, we see signs of progress, seems to be returned back in time.

We need petrol for the bike and there are no distributors ... walk several km. We are lucky and find a service area, probably the 'only in the neighborhood, in fact we do a long tail behind tractors, cars and vehicles of any kind before being able to supply our Africa Twin.

We continue our journey southward, the step of Gorica, through Pecan, Udbina Gracac and a fairly large, here the road forks, the main gateway to the sea and Zadar, the other goes in for Knin. We decided to go to Knin which is 50 km.

We begin to feel tired, but we see great possibilities of accommodation for the night, then go ahead, grinding the last 85 km. that separate us from Split.

We are lucky not enter directly into the city, but we continue on the coast to the south, where in a beautiful village is a beautiful room to sleep.

Split, Supetar, Bol - Brac island Km 36

Visit quickly Split, Diocletian's palace, the church of S. Doimo and the beautiful old town, we reach the port, to inform us of timetables to reach the island of Brac.

Stay in Bol, Brac island

One of the largest islands of the Adriatic. Known for the cave of white marble, is characterized by a karst landscape with valleys, vast pine forests and vineyards.
Supetar The small capital, situated on the east coast, is a beautiful town with old houses grouped around the marina in a beautiful green bay. Bol called the beach "Zlatni Rat" (Punta d'oro) is a form of wedge towards the sea and its form varies depending on the currents.

Spend some beautiful days in complete relax, under the scorching sun, eating good food Croata ...
