Obviously I have not included the dates of the trip because not remember. Were the 90's when I made a trip which also included Austria. On that occasion I was with my Fiat Tipo. Czech Republic came in late at night and slept in a spartan hotel, as those which are found only in the former communist countries: large rooms with crystal chandeliers tapestries, a little personal but strictly divided powder and cold in the rooms. This hotel returned from a glorious past but was in decline, however, situated in a characteristic pedremontano environment surrounded by trees and along a river. First stop in Cesky Krumlov, almost intact medieval city with a lot of walls and the castle that dominates from the top of a hill. What makes it unique is that here the river forms a loop, making it almost an island. Cobblestone streets are a latch gate between typical craft shops. One place not to be missed. The moat of the castle houses a pair of bears. Pointing towards the west you reach Karlovy Vary, a true jewel of Art Nouveau. These were the imperial baths and palaces Grand'Hotel and looking along the river remember. Unfortunately, in the Communist era was a modern building constructed to house the nomenclature that stone with the rest of the environment. Karlovy Vary everything seems a stretch as a gem within a treasure chest because it is seen first from the top of a slope above it.
Back east to visit the famous Karlstejn Castle that overlooks a forest from the top of a hill. And 'the typical medieval castle with a reconstruction of the interior and lace towers. A bit too touristic but inevitable since we are a stone's throw from Prague.
Prague, the capital is one of the most beautiful cities of Europe, the Charles Bridge which connects the two sides of the river is not only architecturally beautiful with many statues in Gothic parapets but it is also alive with tourists from all over the world, young hippy, to musicians, jugglers and storytellers. Crossing it was a Malastrana where you climb the hill lla of the Castle, actually a city within a city with the royal palace, St. Vitus Cathedral (Gothic and austere), historic buildings from the famous Golden Lane with its lower medieval houses. Coming down the hill to the castle on the right there is the basilica dedicated to Our Lady of Loreto on the left while you climb on the panoramic green Petrin hill overlooking the city.
On the other side of the Vltava along major avenues are overlooked by historic buildings such as the Center Clementino but especially Starometke namesti, a square dominated by dark monument to the reformer Jean Hus and surrounded by colorful buildings that make up the view to the beautiful Church of Tyn surmounted by two tall towers. The square is beautiful exhibition of the domed Baroque church of San Nicola. Not far from the Piazza Municipio in the tower houses the famous astronomical clock-mechanic.
A few steps from here the Jewish quarter of Josefov in synagogues, some of which turned into a museum, but especially with the cemetery, one of the most interesting sites of its kind. A poetic picture of old tombs stacked one upon the other.
The recent history of Prague is linked to long Wenceslas Square, famous for the youth of the "spring" anti.
To the north east of the capital, there are some strange rock formations such Skala you can go through narrow paths in the woods. You can also do other than go there.
Further south, however deserves a visit the old mining town of Kutna Hora with its imposing Gothic cathedral of Santa Barbara symbol of a glorious past of which remains the only memory. Transfer from Bohemia and Moravia Olomouc specifically to a short stop in Central Square dominated by a fountain.
First real step in Blansko Moravian, the starting point for excursions to the beautiful karst mountains of the "Moravian paradise." The impressive gorge Macocha can be seen both from above after having traveled a path from the mountain is during the visit of a cave. Another cave, take part on foot and partly on a boat sailing a river underground.
In just a few km we in Brno, the capital of Moravia, on the hill overlooking the city the bleak Spilberg hosted the prisons Risorgimento Silvio Pellico. The rest of the city but I was not particularly fascinated. I returned here from Austria in Vienna to reach where I continued my journey.
I found the Czech Republic and still interesting enough to visit for the presence of Prague, one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. Since it is so far the see Karlovy Vary, a city unique and Cesky Krumlov. The rest of what you see is beautiful but not to merit a trip alone.
In addition to this route have been two other times in the Czech Republic in Prague in'90 where I came by train from East Berlin I spent a day waiting for the train to Budapest advantage to see Wenceslas. At that time Prague was the capital of a country's largest, Czechoslovakia, was a sad and gloomy.
After the trip tourist object description I passed by the Czech Republic, namely from Cesky Tezin, to achieve with my Fiat Tipo Baltic countries via Poland.
