Departure from Pisa with direct flight to Helsinki. Two days spent at the Finnish capital and then back in flight to Rovaniemi from which a rental car with us we are heading for Norway (see this nation for the route and photos Finnmark in Norwegian). We stayed in a hotel near the airport in Vantaa (15 km from Helsinki) easily accessible by public transport even though we have preferred to rent a car. The first day we were directed to the delightful town of Porvoo at about 50 Km from the capital. Then we faced a tour de force by car along the following path: Porvoo, Kotka, Luumäki, Lappeeranta, Imatra, Puumala, Mikkeli, Heinolan, Lahti, Vantaa for the beauty of some 600 or 700 kilometers in a single day. Do not let not worth it. We hoped to see the landscapes that in fact we have found in the north. Only one point in the road along the hundreds of lakes that are there in that area. We SORBITOL miles boundless forests that though beautiful, are a lot of boredom after a while. Much better to take a cruise on Lake Saimaa from Lappeeranta or starting directly from Helsinki. The second day was devoted to that Helsinki is a beautiful city and deserves a stay of three or four days to visit well. The sympathetic Kauppatori, the market is that the port, the Parliament, the Orthodox Church (it's all in the center). Beautiful the real heart of the city: the covered market (always at the port) with many shops and souvenir also bakeries, fishmongers, and mecellerie course pizzicheria managed by a well 35 years from a nice gentleman from Catania! Visit all the afternoon 'Suomenlinna island situated in front of Helsinki. On the third day for Rovaniemi where we know that the notorious Santa Claus as in fantasy, is a omonia vociona with the Gambon, his beard long and white, the red tip Cappellone even in July (it does not suffer as much heat in Rovaniemi we have never found more than 15 degrees). From Rovaniemi (Arktikum visit the museum is very interesting!) We are directed to the far north of Finland via Ivalo, Inari (Siida museum on exceptional flora and fauna of the arctic world) where we slept. Along the journey we have finally had the landscape we had hoped to meet but without success, during the tour de force of Helsinki. Beautiful forests practically laid on hundreds of lakes, reindeer herds in which force them to stop when crossing the road and do not seem worried about the car. Infinite expanses of water with many stretches of unspoiled woods one another throughout the Finnish Finnmark to the border with Norway. From here in Karasjok (Norway) continued our adventure in Finnmark, which now has become Norwegian. I refer to that country for the continuation of our journey.
