From Roja to val Saint Dalmas de Tende, it climbs to a road close to Lake of Mesches, you leave your car and walk along the dirt and feel up to the hut for about 3 hours walk , you can camp with your tent or sleep in the shelter, (best to book "merveilles de refuge"). From here you can aim a beautiful view into the valley and especially at dawn. To reach the cave site just follow the directions, and there is much control of park guards who advise on the way to go.
you can take the path up to nearly 3000mt. and then fell back over the hill to the parking lot.
That is the Valley of Wonders, a place very nice and welcoming, not only for experienced mountaineers but also for those who have good legs for the journey, and good will to use them.
