Côte d'Azur at Christmas time, France
Since we did not feel like winter yet, we tried to take a ride on the French Riviera to see be able to enjoy a little 'sun. Well! for 2 days to 3 we have succeeded.
We started on 7/12/06 around 18:00 and after a stop at roadside restaurants for dinner, we arrived in Nice www.venere.it booked through the hotel around midnight. We left the cars in the garage near the hotel and we took possession of our rooms.
Grasse and Cannes
The first day we left for
Grasse, the city of perfumes. Along the way they encounter signs to visit the many perfume factories, but we went in the most ancient and famous: Fragonard. Definitely worth a visit for free tours in Italian and of course the final step from the store where you can buy at better prices than in stores, is that so many little thoughts scented perfumes that we got for Christmas presents. From soaps of various shapes and various perfumes, bubble bath, scented creams ... there is something for every taste and budget.
The spin around the country, the shops and narrow streets and old, is unfortunately ended with the rain and after lunch we left for
Cannes.
Canes at Christmas is like many other towns, and adorned with a beautiful Christmas market, not to make the slightest envy those of Tyrol and Trentino. Unfortunately, here too the drum beating rain did not allow us to enjoy the city ... but the day after the day was wonderful and we run around on foot throughout
Nice.
Nice
The old town is charming, full of shops of all types of food items is different, there are streets with antique shops and art shops and squares with stalls of fresh fish and seagulls waiting to get a little 'food.
Since we are at Christmas, in the square that links the old city to a new one here too we find the market with stalls, trees "snow" and ice rink. Addition, a small amusement park allows us to see the whole
Nice blue sea, from the Ferris wheel.
Walking in the old town you arrive in the Cours Saleya, where the flower market and fruit, is the host with its colors and scents. From there it is on the most famous street of
Nice "worldly" La Promenade des Ingles. The promenade, the Hotel Negresco, the blue chairs on the waterfront ... all as in the past.
After a sumptuous lunch in an outdoor restaurant (and we are in December!) Along the Promenade, we are heading for the new part for a while 'shopping in a mega shopping mall, busy in time of presents and still stocked.
The evening takes us ... destroyed!
Eze
For the last day we reserved on the way back, visiting the medieval village of
Eze. Perched on a mountain, is a real gem that deserves a visit at all. From here the view is beautiful and seems to be on top of the world.
E 'then came the hour of departure and after a stop for lunch in San Remo, it's back to Bologna.
