This is not to be the classic account of the tourist sights of Ville Lumiere, but rather a sense of depth for those who already know Paris but not in the less tourist side.
I'm looking for home in Paris because I have to move to France to work (.... hi hi hi ..... ce l'ho fatta !!!!) so I have taken advantage of the queue to test the holiday housing market in the capital fancese.
I wandered on foot (in meters) between the 4th and 6th Arrondissement (in practice between the Marais and the Latin Quarter) from a real estate agency to another, trying to understand which of the two district was more akin to my taste (and my pockets).
Flight from Milan with Easy Jet and taken to the folly paid (450 Euro!) To the face of the Low Cost! on Orly, then Air France bus to Gare de Montparnasse, handy, just in front of the South Terminal, with only 8 euro arrives in about 20 minutes in front of the Hotel Meridien Montparnasse.
Beautiful and imposing the Tour, about 56 floors of glass with black top floor terrace with breathtaking views across Paris (better than the more famous Tour Eiffel), immediately at the hotel to leave luggage (Tim Hotel - Rue of 22 -- 75 euro double in the new part of the taken-on Expedia) and then wander away to the Latin quarter in more than Boulevar Montparnasse.
Superb little busy the streets and above all just "beaten" by tourists between Rue de Rennes and the Jardin du Luxembourg, houses of late XIX century with the typical Parisian mansard roof .... you'd expect on dall'immaginario collective houses in Paris But without the casino machines and crowds that you find in the 1st and 2nd arrondissement (metro St. Placide or Notre Dame des Champs or Rennes), give me a nice walk straight up to St. German des Pres we will immediately contact with the real feeling of Paris. Once arrived in the famous St German allow some 'deserved to relax in one of the many brasserie with outdoor tables and enjoy to look at the people passing, perhaps sipping a biere pression or an aperitif according to your tastes.
The first two days I have passed Strolling virtually alone in this area, looking for real estate agency to make me a very high price ....... !!!!!!!! Just to let you know .... it comes up for sale for around 10,000 euros per meter, and rent from 1200 euro up to a small studio !!!!!!!!
In the other two days I decide to investigate a 'better the 4th arrondissement, the Marais, centralissimo (bordering on 1st arrondissement), famous artists and poets and all the bohemian ville; already know him well for the presence many clubs (especially evening bar )...... what about this wonderful area ...... I move and hotels to be more comfortable (hotel Acacias-20 Rue du temple - 115 euros for a double fêtent with view on a chub ... horrible face of the spectacular views offered by the city!) the tour starts from Hotel de Ville of course (wonderful !!!!) (metro Hotel de Ville) and then continues between the streets between Rue du Temple, the Center Pompidou cultural (best known as Beaubourg) and the north by Rue Rambuteau.
Here the buildings are generally lower and less lavish, but the shops various underground clubs will make this area rich with character and charm.
On foot you can reach easily the Ile de la Cite with His Majesty Notre Dame, a cathedral that needs no further comments ........ praised in all the languages and the ways (always 4th arrondissement) .. ... throw the other bridge on the Seine (Pont au double) and you're back in the 6th arrondissement .... stop in the middle of one of the many bridges and admire the breathtaking view ..... wonderful Paris! !
Advice to anyone in the neighborhood of the Marais to go to dinner at this restaurant, "Le Chant des Voyelles" in Rue des Lombardes 4, young and nice typical brasserie with outdoor tables also, music in the background (not too sottofondo ...), environment enough fashion, excellent dinner, courteous waiters and expenditure contained compared to the quality of food (70 euro in two with glass of wine and champagne).
Anyone want to do a tour other than the "usual" Paris of the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre and the Champs Elisees, is strongly trying to live more of the true life of these two districts (both day and night), to understand more fund the "facon de vivre a la Parisienne."
"Vive la France, Vive Paris"
