La Montagne aux Marmottes. Visit to a natural park at Le Sauze du Lac, France
Have already gone to several parks with animals, far and wide, some with large spacious cages with animals or even free ... others with small cages where the animals have no place ..... this "zoo" is part of the second category, unfortunately!!
Get there by following the directions from Sauze du Lac, up the hill ..... arrival a large parking lot and entrance complete with souvenir huge, 13 euros to enter (each) and advertising everywhere ... so you expect a lot going for this place ..... Entrance is a kind of representation made with real stuffed animals, reconstructions of scenes from life of animals, marmots, a bear, foxes, wolves, .... well you just can not find it cute? In short, these animals were once alive .... macabre for a place where animals should be well intended and well-regarded. A stroll along this small path indoors and away from the start in the park located along the slopes of the mountain, a salt descend staircases and paths, sloping cages .... we go outside and at a table near the bar two huge plush marmots are sitting on metal chairs, smiling, nice idea ...... Cages marmots are large enough cross-linked with low and they play and fight within a perimeter that is nothing compared to the wild ..... Marmots are cute, lay in the shade or intent to chew something, nice and plump, playful and seem not to have too much afraid of the visitors. The bar to the right of the marmots have the gazebo and sells mostly 'ice cream and soft drinks.
Onward reluctantly left the cage of marmots.
Arrive via a paved street with cages of birds of prey ..... Night boys have never seen owls and owls up close? are hypnotic in their eyes and huge fluorescent ...... beautiful pieces! Too bad they had small cages and sad! Several species of owls, small, white, gray, brown, crackling owls in broad daylight are disturbed by visitors .....
Continues between cages and aviaries of different birds including a peacock tail open, guinea pigs, foxes and other animals that exist in the cages are not there.
Tired and sad donkeys are enclosed by a fence and falling into the cage of wolves has just finished a show with wolves scared hiding in a fake cave. A large amphitheater is a place of entertainment which we do not want to participate. Continue among birds of prey coming to the cave of minerals, a cave with petroglyphs fake fake fake and stallagmiti, minerals embedded in rock that glisten with thousands of colors .....
Exit I kidnaps a beautiful view on the lake of Serre Poncon, you have a nice view from above the trees, the sun is still high and hot.
Before going out to find a reproduction of the Demoiselles Coiffees, rocky conformations very similar to Ciciu Villar (see review) and go into a sort of insettiario ....
Paintings on the walls that enclose insects of all types, sizes and color, some beautiful and fascinating, on display, some clearly coming from distant countries, multicolored butterflies, shiny minerals. (lousy huge spiders!)
Moving from the shop I take my usual magnet on the fly and go out a little 'disappointed and a bit' sad to know these animals locked up and imprisoned, sad, on display in extreme conditions.
And so I go away ....... towards the lake and into the Demoiselles Coiffees.
I think the sadness of the animals is leaked by their movements and expressions, the state of the zoo is mediocre, the price is high for what there is to see.
