In 2003 we faced France in the camper with his wife and children. For the hire of the vehicle we turned to an agency that has offices in different parts of Europe (Barcelona, Rome, Paris) and service / support offering is excellent (Sea of Orgeval Rent). Loaded the camper of food we have been directed towards the north state in the direction of Rouen.

The way we went to Giverny. Claude Monet lived here to regain the famous water lilies and the bridge of his garden "Japanese." We are at the Normandy.

Rouen is beautiful, definitely worth visiting. The Gothic Cathedral of Notre Dame has a long history and is also famous for the series of paintings that Monet himself. Here Joan of Arc was imprisoned and executed on 30 May 1431, even if the place where the event is very anonymous and not of particular interest. The Tour Janne d'Arc, his place of imprisonment, certainly deserves more.

Take the road to the north (state roads only) in the direction of Etretat. Between Rouen and Vernon, the landscape is dominated by the Seine.

At Etretat, the landscape is breathtaking. The rock (large rocks over) fill your eyes with the beauty of the Porte d'Aval and dell'Aiguille. The white pebble beach invites to relax for a moment and enjoy the natural spectacle. I must say that we had much luck with the time and the day also gave us a bath in the clear and cold waters of Etretat. There is a path that leads on Falesia d'Aval and allows a view from above. The country, even if a little 'tour, certainly deserves a visit.

Return the road following the coast of northern France. At Le Havre are the impressive Bridge of Normandy 2141 meters along well. (eye, it pays well and salty). Near the bridge there is a beautiful village on the coast that I remember with great pleasure because we have found a great beauty with its magnificent harbor. I'm talking about Honfleur, frequently painted by the impressionists. If you are traveling in motor homes in this village a large area of rest and refueling.

Our journey, still long, we do see a deviation toward the inside to be able to visit some of the most famous distilleries of Calvados, and Cidra Pommeau, liqueurs typical of these places. Among the most important, worthy of note, the Coeur de Lion, as well as being one of my favorite Calvados, offers a unique. A beautiful complex of houses built of wood and straw original XVI and XVII century, where you can make a culture on the preparation of Calvados. The taste is a must.

Nearby, on the RN177, we visited a typical Norman village, Pont l'Evêque.

Continue turning a 'blanket this area offering typical landscapes of Normandy between Caen and Lisieux are typical of the castles: Château de St. German de Livet, Château de Crevecoeur-en-Auge and the Château de Canon a Mezidon. A Bayeux Cathedral is a beautiful tapestry with Queen Matilda.

Once the nice deviation we are on the Atlantic coast on the famous beaches of D-Day: Omaha Beach. Apart from a war memorial and the symbolic value of the place I do not think we need to spend much time for the visit.

We continue on the coastal road towards the famous Mont St. Michel and, for the campers, the overnight parking in front to enjoy the spectacle of the tide at sunset. Do not visit the city by day with the multitude of tourists, but do it in the evening. The show is definitely better. Let Mont St. Michel and Normandy with her, to enter the territory of Britain.

Let the beautiful beaches of Cancale, the beautiful Ile du Guescalin, to reach the famous St.Malo. Very characteristic visited his fortification, typical of a city Corsara. The tide here can reach more than ten meters and see some boat lies on its side is a show very often. The guys take advantage of low tide to go fishing some fruit of the sea and then sell it to tourists.

We follow the road along the coast via Dinan (beautiful medieval village) and Fougeres, with its castle and adjoining town, to Cap Fréhel, beautiful cliff overlooking the sea.

We continue towards the extreme west of France. The time has definitely changed over the Normandy, but the drizzle Nuvoloni and daily make the landscape even more distinctive.

We arrive at Ploumanach, pink granite coast of the most incredible figures created by nature, the beautiful lighthouse. After making a stop to refuel in-Lampaul Plouarzel, we head to the westernmost tip of France with the Lighthouse Pointe de Saint-Mathieu. In addition to the lighthouse is a beautiful cathedral in ruins which, with the right day, the air really unreal.

Reluctantly leave this beautiful area of France to head south.

Locronan, a medieval village close to Quimper, it is worth to be visited, as an important port, Paris.

We preferred to make a detour towards the peninsula of Crozon, rather than the Quiberon, much more touristy latter. Camaret is a typical Breton village. Carnac with its 3 thousand menhirs and dolmens where you can visit the alignments of Ménec, Kermario and Kerlescan.

We leave the coast and we head towards the interior to visit Josselin. Along the road we must stop at the Calvary Guehenno. Their history dates back to the fifteenth century when the menhirs, the stone stele that symbolized eternity erected by Neolithic civilizations that lived in these areas first, the crosses were planted by the ecclesiastical authorities to avoid the pagan worship still practiced in that period. Here the crosses have become increasingly sophisticated to represent a sort of "bubble" on multiple levels of life and passion of Christ.

Josselin is a beautiful village with a castle of the XI century visitors.

The return to Paris we did through the region of the Loire Valley, visiting the beautiful castles of Chambord (the "small" Versailles), Amboise, Chenonceau, Azay-le-Rideau, the medieval city of Bourges, Orleans, Blois and Tours.
