1st DAY - Nice

We start in pairs for a short trip with our car from Milan, motorway A26 (always very fluently) direction Ventimiglia, Nice destination ..

Traffic and do not find a mid-morning, cross the French border, and we step in the characteristic medieval Cité d 'Eze, village d'art et de gastronomie, a few km. Nice. We visit the tiny stone village, appreciating the narrow streets, adorned with geraniums and climbing plants.

Every corner, every corner is a potential photograph. We appreciate the charming shops of local crafts, prepared with taste and characteristic restaurants. But the journey has just begun too early to shop and is not yet lunch time to enjoy the "gastronomie locale. So, after thoroughly inspected every corner, we rely on the march.

We arrive in Nice and first located our hotel: a typical inn near the center, starting immediately after the visit of the city. In Nice, there are museums and historic buildings of particular significance, the city is visited mainly externally. It 'Nice to walk in the vieille ville (old town) that we prefer to measure in the modern part of the large and tourist hotels. Interesting marché de fleurs, which is transformed in the evening: by the stalls of flowers to give way to the tables of the outdoor seafood restaurants, where dinner. Romantic after dinner stroll along the seafront and back at the hotel.

2nd DAY - Arles

The guide recommends a stop in Aix en Provence. However, the city is not very interesting to our eyes and then, after a short visit, we continue to Arles, a town on the border between Provence and Camargue. Atmosphere here is Spanish, perhaps because the arena that dominate downtown. Arles is a city of ancient monuments and folklore.

Our hotel, near dell'Anphitheatre of the same name, is enchanting: it is like a building anticheggiante, with a monumental staircase, decorations, furniture and Gregorian chants in the background. A charming environment with extreme attention to detail that hardly forget. And to think that this is a modest 2 stars!.

Visit the old town in particular appreciating an ancient cloister, in the main square. At Arles we all talk about here that Van Gogh lived for a certain period of his life. We buy souvenirs in the tourist shops near all'arena. In the evening Arles was abandoned, and the many tourists seem to be missing the afternoon, maybe they were just in transit.

Dinner in a restaurant located in a small square, the main dish is the tasty flesh of a bull.

3rd DAY - Avignon

After a thorough, albeit too slow breakfast in our hotel in Arles, get the car from the parking lot where we were kept advised to leave the car for safety reasons and leaving for Aigues Mortes in the Camargue region.

Aigues Mortes is a walled city surrounded, as the name suggests, from the water.

Inside cheerful streets, so many boats out to visit the surrounding waterways. Even we do groped and opt for a short tour of the canals. If we had had more time, we could make a longer cruise, with a more structured itinerary. But we also see the classic wild horses typical of the region. Typical lunch buying sandwiches in many shops inside the walls and then get there by car.

Way, as planned, stop in Tarascon for visiting the castle in which a pharmacy appreciate vintage.

We arrive in Avignon in the late afternoon, a little 'exhausted by the pace of the day.

So we decide to postpone the visit of the city the next day by restricting ourselves to walk through the streets of the center, where, fortunately, you will find our hotel.

Also this hotel is clear to our liking. Hotels in France, 2 stars though, are almost luxury ... hospitable, as well as prices. The hotel of our trip were all booked via internet, as extracted from search engines and booked only after carefully reviewed the personal sites, features and location. For booking, all hotels require a confirmation email with details of your credit card details to guarantee the reservation.

4th DAY - RETURN HOME

We stand up for good now to visit the imposing Palais des Papes (Pope's residence at the time of the transfer of the papal seat to Avignon). The palace, the fascinating exterior, inside is rather disappointing as bare and poor decor.

E 'must visit the famous "Pont d'Avignon", which offers ideas for beautiful photographs.

And pious return home where we arrive in the evening.

"Sur le pont d'Avignon,
L'on y danse, l'on y danse;
Sur le pont d'Avignon,
L'on y danse tout en rond "
(midi file for background)
