Napoleon closed his eyes and wherever he felt the smell of the maquis, the richness from the Corsica. This paradise so close to us leaves you in the eye mimosas, eucalyptus, plantations of cork, the expanses of sand, rocks and forests. We were in Corsica several times, always in camp and then we move from one beach to another, this island is made for a touring holiday, there's everything to see and discover. My kids are back in 2006, I did a little 'collage of photos.
So much to see. On the east coast: St.Florent, from a vantage point across to both coasts; heritage, with a beautiful church, St. Michael walled with its architectural jewels, Bastia, point of arrival from Italy where we are seeing the first signs of the abiding presence of Napoleon. Going down south Aleria, with the ruins and the castle, then Ghisonaccia, Quercion a lonely beach even in August, Solenzara and the coast of castanets, Scaffa Red with multicolored pebbles and sand smooth. Upriver Solenzara are the pools where swimming. Further south Pinarello, with the pine forest near the sea, St. Cyprian round the beautiful bay surrounded by red rocks, Gulf of Dream of a thousand shells, Santa Giulia beautiful and chic with impalpable sand, Santa Manza, with the beach format by very small shells, and Cala Palombaggia Rondinara, beautiful fusion of colors.
Then Portovecchio, a town full of traffic but with picturesque alleys and romantic restaurants.
Bonifacio, beautiful, with the tremendous scale of the King of Aragon (who many years ago with young children we have come at high noon, a passage to the sea, leaning against the rocks, without a breath of wind and the sun beating High ... ... because there was nobody else at that hour?). From here the tour by motorboat to explore the caves, from one of these can be glimpsed an opening that has the shape of the island itself.
Bello the Hermitage de la Trinité overlooking Bonifacio.
Bonifacio from the excursion to the island of Lavezzi part, with the rocks smoothed by the wind and perhaps a bit 'too many tourists return to skirt the island of Cavallo.
Ajaccio, on the other coast, and there is always and only he, Napoleon, beautiful beaches Rupione and August.
Inside the waterfall of piss of Gallo, the valley of Restonica, the Court, the ancient capital, the forest of Vizzavona with small dark pigs in freedom, with Bavella with its spire.
Maybe August is not the ideal month, there are people, as everywhere, but looking for the beach you can still find solitude.
I miss the whole of the north west, with gullies, el'Isle Rousse Calvi, who knows what the end will not go back, the memories of this paradise close to home are beautiful.
