A few kilometers from the center of Monaco lies one of the places that have marked the history of the last century, a place that deserves a visit to reflect on the horrors produced by the mind of evil men. We speak of the prison camp at Dachau, the first of Hitler's Nazi era, which saw the project of extermination of Jews and others.

Visit this place of deep sadness and anxiety is a necessary experience for and do not forget to bring the vision of those terrible truths around the world do in winter at -10 ° C in my opinion really makes the idea of ??how those unfortunate people could live.

To go to Dachau just rely on the subway in Monaco. Take the S2 line from Central Station and arrives at Dachau in less than 30 minutes. Once off the metro station you can take a bus number 726 on the apron to the field. If you show the driver your ticket stamped subway, the ride will be free.

Once the field is the information center where you will be waiting to take advice or a guide or an audio guide in Italian, which accompanied the map, will serve as guide in the atrocities of the field. And 'necessary because it explains in detail the activities of the field as well as many anecdotes that I personally was totally sconsciuti, such as the controversy over construction of the memorial to the victims of the camp.

The entrance to the camp is free and the field is open every day except Monday from 9 to 17. To enter the field you pass the gate with the inscription tragically famous "Arbeit Macht Frei" (work makes you free, tragic illusion that was granted to prisoners of the camp).

Dachau was the first built by the Nazi government and was the role model for others: the Dachau camp does not arise purely as an extermination camp (Auschwitz, for example) but as a prisoner of war camp where they were imprisoned opponents of Hitler hosted esuccessivamente Jews and minorities do not like the Nazis as Jehovah's Witnesses, homosexuals, immigrants, gypsies, Poles and prisoners, Russians, etc. murders.

This was an important element for the construction of a mausoleum in memory that is not contemplated, at least initially, some groups (highlighted by the colors of the flags that were wearing the clothes of prisoners kitchens), such as homosexuals. This made me reflect a lot because in my personal opinion it was like to discriminate against discrimination and I did not understand the meaning and saddened me even more.

Prisoners Once registered, robbed, and dressed in rags and sandals were made in one of 34 large cabins that no longer exist and the only visitors have been rebuilt. Trava is right in front of the large square where there was an appeal, which was devastated by the cold and wind. The barracks were able to accommodate 6,000 prisoners, but at the time of liberation the Americans counted 32,000 people. Please visit the cabin leaves the sign of unprecedented violence with the ice inside the windows and under hygienic conditions really beyond imagination.

At the end of the field, whose perimeter was guarded by turrets and barbed wire and armed been viewing, there is a crematorium and gas chamber. The crematorium was used to eliminate the victims of the field and delete the helpless mass of bodies that daily filled the barracks and the gas chamber (which leaves you speechless, I assure you) never seems to have been used within the field but for this death was deported to other sites.

At the end an estimated 30,000 deaths in the years of the field which 2,000 died after the liberation of 29 April 1945 for hygiene in the state (and this is another fact to ponder long). Distressing is the museum on the right (facing the parade grounds) where there are hundreds of photos and original documents that illustrate so gritty and violent world that a person I never wanted to know.

It 'been a life experience that will make you think long and that will leave a profound mark on your holiday in Bavaria.
