Given the good weather we decide to return to Bavaria, and our goal is Regensburg.
Built in stone, is the best preserved medieval cities of Germany and what sets it apart is the green that surrounds it, almost like a crown. I am reminded of Goethe, who wrote "Regensburg is located in a place so nice that someone had come to live" ... and was completely right: it stands at the confluence with the Danube river Regen where "architecture" of natural and man live together harmoniously. The most important building and the city is the majestic Cathedral of St. Peter. Other religious buildings to see are the church of St. Ulrich, the baroque St. Joseph and to finish the church, "Zur Alten Kapelle" Interesting construction and Steinerne Brücke (bridge of stone "), considered by the superstitious, the devil's work which, they say, has helped the manufacturer of the bridge in exchange for the first three souls that they had crossed. First passed a dog, a rabbit and a hen and the devil was so deceived. At the beginning of the bridge is the famous Wurstküche, an ancient place where they are grilled pork sausages (Regensburger Bratwürste) and smoke, which rises to the chimney, flooding the surrounding area of the odor saporito.Visitare center means going back in time: the winding streets, ancient cloisters, courtyards inside making it very pleasant wander aimlessly and dedicate themselves to idleness or shopping. The many local traditional Bavarian and a variety of international restaurants, small pubs and elegant cafes rather difficult to make the choice of where to stay for a "snack".
Worth to move the car and, about 10 km east of the city, reaching the heights overhanging the Danube to visit the Walhalla. It is a Doric temple, following the example of the Parthenon in Athens, called for by King Ludwig I. E 'is visible from afar and has a beautiful view but, in my opinion, it would qualify as one of the first "eco-monsters of history." Inside is home to numerous busts made in honor of prominent persons in Germany.
