Short day trip to celebrate her birthday away from home.
Only flight available for those dates with landing at Valencia in Spain.
With a rental car dell'Hertz (always rise to the occasion) was sufficient to make approximately 850 km and in the evening I could see the headland that is "Gibraltar" calasse before the sun.
The evening can be spent in Tarifa, just south in Spain, a town very lively during the summer nights cooled by the constant wind.
The old town is full of kids moving in droves in the streets of shops that offer a bit of everything from swimwear to seafood items, snacks and drinks.
I dined at a local pool in the main square as they staged the show activities occupied residents and tourists more sedentary.
At 2 am, while the dismounted personnel and equipment from the stage like kids smarter organize conclude the night I go to rest, it was enough for today.
Good now prepare your luggage and leave the hotel, stopping to see something else in short center, breakfast, and the way to Gibraltar by making several stops in the vicinity of some production facilities for wind energy.
Leaving the car in a public parking in Spain decided to walk.
Crossing the border between Spain and Gibraltar is quick and easy. You will cross the runway when few planes land daily and follow the pedestrian lane and surrounded by well indicated that for those for cars and cycles monitored by hardworking British bobbies.
The visit of the area at the foot of the promontory is fast through a pedestrian street lined with many shops, mostly closed except those run by Asians, until the cable car station, and then the ticket to the top.
For those who have little time or do not want to spend much time in visiting the castle with its forest may wander near the station because you'll be approached by motorized travel guides offering their services with complete revolution of the most interesting to moderate figure of €. 12.00, about two hours standing uncomfortably seated in white vans and certainly close together burly of tourists for the steep climbs.
The little man came up to me saying that the walking tour would make me tired people kept enough canned and when I told him, looking in, I preferred stroll did not like.
The most interesting is definitely the view goes up to the Moroccan coast and meet with the monkeys (unique across Europe) that move very easily between rocks, plants and roofs of minivans.
In some areas the forest guards who asked not to feed the beasts of frugal organized canteens leaving fruit and vegetables cut up to them and to supplement the diet.
In these sites, however, enhances the boorishness of the guides because motorized trumpet to warn of their arrival, discharge the material between human laughter, poses for a photo souvenir, shouting and throwing peanuts (the guides are also dealers peanuts) violent peace and peace of the place.
Similarly to how they got to be some way by maneuvering the narrow streets and only then I congratulated for not having acceded to their proposal.
I continued my tour through the streets encountering other hikers and other primates that rarely become dangerous or try to snatch something (unfortunately have become accustomed to the presence of guides that man brings food in every object has in his hand so ... ... attentive to the camera).
Continue visiting the ruins of military outposts and stop at various points to enjoy the view, the movement of ships sailing or at anchor, and then begin the return journey, cable car and down into the lower area.
For lunch I stopped at a local restaurant "Lord Nelson" with English cuisine at reasonable prices.
In the afternoon, after witnessing the landing of a plane from Barcelona, I could cross the border and retrieve the car to pursue the return journey, next stop "The Alhambra in Granada, but this is already another trip. Soon
