A strip of barren land, dotted here and there with some tufts of Mediterranean greenery, high above in a monastery-castle-fortress seems to dominate the scene, leaving behind a trail of white cottages. Me and Benny GIUGE on these shores a beautiful May morning of a hot and windy, Patmos charms immediately for his candor, foul here and there by the Greek flag, blue and white, your colors, beautiful Greece. I've surprised.
It is Patmos, a small greek islands of the Dodecanese, a shape reminiscent of the morphology of a bow-tie tuxedo, two small towns, Skala, the port and Hora or Chora, the village around the fortress.
Out in the journey of revelations, a site for Christians and non-dazzling: hidden among the pines and the Mediterranean cork, here's the hidden cave where the Apostle John the Evangelist is supposed to have received the apocalyptic revelations of the New Testament. Event later novel that led to the construction of the Shrine of the Apocalypse, or the Monastery of the Apocalypse, up there, a beautiful glimpse of the medieval mystery play of a castle on the value different, unpredictable Byzantine mosaics to remind us that here as elsewhere, after the Apostle arrived Romans of the East and then the Turks Soleimano, and so on .... The monastery contains intact rooms of prayer, the little chapel, the Orthodox church, its towers and its staircases, around Chora or Hora, the beautiful white village, clearly subservient to the cruise tourism, but not as devastating as in other places, rather nicely distributed among the green hills of this part of the island.
Patmos is really a pearl white in a blue sea, island that has everything to amaze and delight, in his beautiful landscapes and beaches, fantastic opportunity to avoid the other islands invaded by turistame mass here come because who knows much less .... Just as well ..
cheers Patmos, and I recommend not to drink coffee ... It's very expensive!
Good for all Greece
