After many thoughts we decide to leave for CORFU.
We rent an apartment via internet in the area of PALEOKASTRITSA, on the north-west of the island.
The start was pretty stressful, after three hours in a row under the sun to pick up your ticket already booked and paid for, we board and after an hour and a half delay we raise the anchor at a time in CORFU.
The discount departure, however, was well repaid by the Greek holiday island.
The apartment was lovely, with a wonderful view over the bay of PALEOKASTRITSA which is definitely the best area of CORFU, which consists of 6 "bays" and the wonderful sea.
Very convenient on the rental boat without a rating, we have rented twice. The first time just to PALEOKASTRITSA and so we were able to visit all six bays: one of the most beautiful.
The second time we went in the opposite side, the closest point to Albania (and in fact was very close) and Kalami we rented a boat. Also in this part of the sea is beautiful, clear and clean. Unlike PALEOKASTRITSA coast is more gentle, even here there are many but less rocky inlets.
PALEOKASTRITSA A point that has fascinated me most is "The Cave" is located directly opposite the Hotel Paloekastritsa, and is a cove with rocks overhanging the sea to which you descend by a steep staircase and you are facing a Artificial wooden balcony where there is also a small bar. Provisions are made umbrellas and chairs. The descent to the sea by a wooden stairway down the cliff directly or by using a trampoline anchored on the rock, or for the more adventurous climbing a rock wall (I have seen him do and I trembled for the rash).
Another breathtaking scenery is the Canal d'Amour Sidari near (north of the island) with tongues of land shaped by the wind that is pushing into the sea, also blue and beautiful. From PALEOKASTRITSA Sidari is going to pass for Angelokastro a fortress overlooking the sea (unfortunately we could not visit because it closed).
While we spend most mornings surrounded, the bottom is very rich in the afternoon we move to the beach on the beach and we found that there are only beaches and rocky boulders, but also a beautiful and well equipped beach of fine golden sand (Glyfada) . Innumerovoli are the water sports you can do on the island.
But CORFU is not only sea and sun.
Kerkira The capital city is a very hospitable and the center is animated souvenir shops and restaurants. Need a visit to New fortress, from which you can enjoy a bird's eye view of the whole city, and the old fortress. A Kerkira there is also a beautiful garden where the only new (so to speak) is the deafening sound of cicadas: there are many and are very large. A visit is essential to Pontekonissi, a church located on the sea and linked to the mainland by a road traveled only on foot
Near Kerkira you can not miss a visit all'Achilleon, the palace of Princess Sissi.
Kerkira by going to a few kilometers north to meet Gouvia and Dassia, two really delicious.
But it is continuing to climb until you meet Ipsos fun. The promenade is enlivened by numerous bars where you can dance, all very nice and with free entry, then in addition to shops and bars where you eat a good ice cream.
But the real fun we found in Sidari, where there is a beautiful beach day, but fun night. Passing through the main street was bombarded by music of all kinds and all the volume, leaving the premises, placed one after the other, all treated in detail, again with free entry and outside of what we boys or girls invited to come to dance and have fun.
Another village is very nice Kouloura with a beautiful harbor.
CORFU is very short, friendly and offers many possibilities for fun, also not too big you move with ease (but only when equipped with a car or other means, we have our board but there are many points where you can rent half of locomotion), in ten days we have visited throughout the northern part of PALEOKASTRITSA in Kerkira. In the south we have not even moved on the advice of the same Corfiots, told us that the sea is beautiful and less then Kavos where the British boss, is not recommended to us Italians, if you do not want to come to blows.
Prices for food and stay are not high, only the espresso is a bit expensive: 2 euro, but they are pretty good, well as good Italian could not give it up for 10 days.
