Crete: an island to discover. Holiday travel in Greece

Having spent several holidays in Spain, which we adore, for once we decide to try to change by opting for Greece so loved by several of our friends and colleagues.
Among the myriad of islands to choose and 'really hard, but having available 2 weeks and fearing that too small an island could sicken we decide to go to Crete.
Having vacation in late July / early August and since the year of the Olympics this year will be held right in Greece, we do not trust some adventure and so 'we rely on our usual travel agency. Let's avoid that and bring us to Hersonissos' some 'of Crete and the Rimini always prefer a small town on the north coast much more' calm, of course, also offered in this agency has done his part ...
Despite having a fixed base, we tried to see the island the most 'can be a bit' through local media and a little 'with the car rental (contact local council who are + cheap, but were very careful to all clauses !!!).
Places to see there 'are spoiled for choice, so I am listing all the places seen, some we can see in the photos that I enclose the island pero' e 'and some really great places I could not to achieve them.
We set out to return to Crete to see the part that we need and to return in some localities' which we liked very much, but next time we'll do a fly-drive!
