island of Milos in the Cyclades

Milos is located in the western Cyclades, and the name you have already 'heard the famous statue of Venus found here. This is a volcanic island

island of milo
GETTING THERE

A Milos you can get in 2 ways: by plane or ferry.
The only aircraft that arrives on the island and 'the Olympic Aviation and we arrived in Athens from 40 minutes using a 20-seat airplane!
For the ferry to Piraeus you go by bus from the airport (1h 15min.), Then take one of the many lenses of Hellas ferries that cross the Route: Piraeus-Kithnos-Serifos-Sifnos-Milos-Piraeus, Piraeus from using a Milos on 6 ore.Oppure there are hydrofoils and obviously are more veloci.L 'I had to return because they had canceled the flight that had come to take us from Athens (storms and tornado), we have spent about 4 hours .

HOW TO MOVE

To turn the island of munitevi map and look for just half, to Adamas, the port and main city, there is everything from the motor to the machine ... if you rent the car to the attention Grecia roads because the asphalt is but very very slippery (use powdered glass) ... even for the most 'experts ... I recommend.

SERVICES

Milos and 'still a good compromise between the tourist island (and therefore all services) and not (and not too crowded). All premises by night are Adamantas, but do not expect spectacular discotheques or huge.
Adamas For there are some markets and a bakery.
I would advise you to do a tour in the morning since many beaches will not have bar, restaurant, and then they'll have to bring a "packed lunch" and especially water, because the temperatures are reached in mid-day worthy son of an oven !
Adamas For there are also some oreficierie and a souvenir shop.
As for restaurants there 'will be spoiled for choice !!!!! The promenade of Adamas is full of taberne-bar, if you like the Gyros, the harbor are great! Taberne (restaurants) are excellent Barka also to Adamas and also the first that is encountered on arriving in Plaka, unfortunately I do not know the name, I believe that he is called a Trip Antonios.Anche ce or a named Herghina.

SLEEP
For accommodation there are no major problems (except in August) and if you want some more information 'can be found at www.milostravel.com.
The site, also in Italian, tells you (and you see) where are the best hotels and where are the best spiagge.Io I found your site on a studio with kitchenette (for the morning coffee, if not who wakes up Pension !!!)( Joanna) really convenient.

WHAT TO SEE
Well cio 'che piu' Milos deserves to have the beaches, but there is much to see.
For those who loves the "historic" are to be seen throughout the catacombs dug by the Christians to escape persecution, going back to the third or fourth century AD.
There 'also an ancient theater, found in 1840.
The beauty of this amphitheater and 'you might just find yourself in this open-air museum, no guide, no crowds of tourists.
In Plaka (the chora) c'e 'il Venetian castle, where all gather to watch the sunset, very beautiful and evocative.
Just below the castle is' the church Panagia Mesa, which divides the audience of the sunset over the castle !!!!!!!!
Or you can go to one of Tripiti local, small town with one-way street that connects with Klima Plaka, with many local authorities which have the entrance on the road and the terrace to the interior of the gulf, where the sets sun.
Klima and 'a beautiful colorful fishing village, with houses on the sea and small boats for remittances, and the inhabitants are simple people, and despite being one of the places not to miss, and therefore popular, sometimes the locals are still surprised to see tourists.
Pollonia and 'a small village with restaurants on the sea (perhaps a little' too touristic), from where ferries depart for the island of Kimolos.
A particular deserves kleftiko: they are two hexagonal rocks that rise from the sea.
Kleftiko not 'reachable by land, the only way to achieve it and' take one of two or three boats carrying out the tour of the island (leaving 9:00, returning 18). Not to be missed !!!!!

BEACHES

Last but not least the beaches, which I think anywhere in the world are so 'different ...
Before describing there Milos to point out that all the beaches crowded to begin at 11 before you can enjoy these masterpieces of nature totally alone, or if you go wrong with 2 or three other people!
= Tsigrado can be reached by a dirt road on an open space ... There are parks and overlooks a steep drop of white perlite ending in a bay ... the beach.
The color of the water and 'nothing short of amazing (just think about all'Egeo perlite !!!), you will' make you feel like the descent of perlite or race .... Jun roll of 'as many boys! !
In the central hours fills perhaps excessively, on the other hand, and 'so' beautiful and so 'small !!!!!!!
If you want to switch to shade the sun trying to get behind the rocks to your left, where during the central shadow begins.
The orientation of the beach means that already 'around 16:00 and' all the shade, if you still want to only recommend you move to Firiplaka (there are still 3 hours of sun !!!!!!) in 5 minutes scooter.
= Firiplaka the road 'for the Tsigrado, this is a very wide beach with a bar, very beautiful and transparent sea, oriented towards the sunset, you can stay on the beach until the last ray of sunshine! !
= Paliochori another beautiful beach, equipped with bar and sea taberne (good food) that there is a good fish;
Agia Kyriaki = close to the beach and Paliochori.La 'very beautiful, with trees near the shore, allowing you to have shade and sun. On entry into the sea there are pebbles on a 5 meters, but they are not at all annoying.
Gerontas = lava beach of fine black sand. To get there you have to make a long piece of road not covered by assistance, and a 20 minutes walk, there have been personally and I would say that is worth the risk (but be careful). Sea transparent and almost certainly will be the only ones on the beach !!!!!!
Platen = beautiful bay, the only beach that you reach the road to Plaka, the road will take you 'up the beach, a beautiful bay, a few local fisherman who goes to octopus and a trailer bar Greek Spartan very close off the tutto.Spiaggia , with some trees for shade.
At sea, towards the end and left dell'insenatura watching the sea, you can see a rock particularly like a dog sitting.
Near Platen (follow the road that will lead to a Platen) you can go and see Fourkovouni, discrete fishing village, yet away from tourism.

Now go to the beaches on the north side of the island.
These beaches offer a sea less clear than in the south, due to the wind and currents.
However, the sea and 'clean, and some are really beautiful.
Along the north of the island from west to east are in order:

Firopotamos = small sparsely crowded beach read deserta of coarse sand and white, with trees. On one hand there is' a marina and a small church, built on a small promontory.
