And I tell you, you are Peter and on this rock I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven "(Matthew XVI, 18-19).
With these words Jesus would have entrusted the task of guiding the church to St. Peter.

Vatican City, closed in the walls of the walls Leonina, with an area of just forty-four hectares is the smallest country in the world. It rises in the middle of Rome, on the right bank of the Tiber, and is located in 1377 by the Pope and the Papal Curia, which as a result of the Lateran was built on 11 February 1929 in the autonomous State under the sovereignty of the Holy See. The supreme body is the Pope who has the fullness of power.

- THE HOLY FATHER The Roman Pontiff, as successor of Peter, is the perpetual and visible principle and foundation of both the bishops of both the mass of the faithful.
In exercising his supreme, full and immediate authority over the whole Church, the Roman pontiff makes use of the departments of the Roman Curia, which therefore do their work in his name and his authority to the benefit of the churches and in the service of sacred shepherds. --
Citizens are the cardinals of the curia, and all those persons who reside permanently in the State of Vatican City.
Our visit, only one day is enough to lead us in the heart of the city Peter, and it reveals the high historical value, artistic and spiritual The basilica of San Pietro with its attachments Apostolic Palace, and other smaller buildings, covering of one third of the total area of the state, while the rest is occupied by prestigious gardens.
We can not remain fascinated contemplate from the outside in St. Peter's Basilica and the Apostolic Palaces, enchanted stop to admire, to head up, with the frescoes of the life stories of Christ and Moses, the universal opinion of the Sistine Chapel by Michelangelo and the Stanze di Raffaello. After so much art there is no better than a walk in the timeless green oasis of peace of the Vatican Gardens, among the fountains and plants unique, full of anecdotes and curiosities about the history of the Vatican.
Finally, we too, like other pilgrims do not hesitate to photograph the soldiers with the Swiss, who mount guard at the entrances of the Vatican.
We must go back to the time of the Renaissance in order to understand the presence of Swiss soldiers in the Vatican. Patterns of invasion led to Pope Julius II in Rome to bring the Swiss mercenaries, when deemed invincible. They swore loyalty to the pope 's 22 January 1506 and this is the official birthday of the Pontifical Swiss Guard. That day, a group of one hundred and fifty Swiss mercenaries, under the command of Captain Kaspar von Silenen, entered through the Porta del Popolo for the first time in the Vatican, where they were blessed by Pope Julius II.
Took the photo rite, leave from the Vatican City to return to Italy.
