A week of August in Budapest: story of our first journey to Hungary
It was our first experience in Budapest. The charm of this town already catching air at night, when lights illuminate the heart of Pest, the Danube bridges, the monuments along the shore. Fill five days doing reconcile the needs of two adults (my wife and I) and those of two children aged 3 and 6 is never easy but thanks to the clement weather (it rained only at night) was a holiday every day beautiful. Budapest is clean and tidy, 3 subway lines allow you to go everywhere and buses complete the transport. One night (the night of the rain) we called a taxi and less than two euro we got home (we were still in a nearby restaurant but the prices of the taxis are very cheap). Things in my view not to be missed are the center of Pest (almost all pedestrian), Parliament (visit site free with reservations required), the Basilica of St. Stephen, the castle and the Royal Palace, Chain Bridge, the great Andrássy (UNESCO) with many neoclassical buildings, Heroes' Square with the great park Varosliget, within which stands the castle of Vajdahunyad Vara, started in 1896. Beside the park there are the beautiful Szechenyi spa. The children are very fun game that met in various parks around interesting sites and also to "Millenaris" where they spent 3 hours of time in a palace built for them. One day we went by train to Szentendre, a village near Budapest characteristic called the city of artists. For sleeping we rented an apartment on the internet at www.L2N.hu. The choice of the apartment (nice and clean) has proved successful both financially and for convenience because it was located in the heart of Pest. The owner is friendly and gave us some helpful advice. We made some dinner at a restaurant located on Lucash Bajcsy-Zsilinszky ut (behind the Basilica of St. Stephen), friendly staff, good food and Hungarian small price.
Overall a wonderful holiday that we recommend to all.
