A date that no one will forget. One day when something has changed profoundly in the world. A tragedy worthy of the most exciting science fiction blockbuster film with one particular: it was all true. One day you wake up and realize the cruelty, evil still exists in the twenty-first century. It was thought that after the Nazi concentration camps had reached rock bottom. Times change and with them the mentality of men. But is not so, at least not any more to this day. The fund now has been "broken". I, with my dear Nino traveled from Bologna to Budapest when we begin to receive the first news piecemeal on a plane that had crashed in New York. Ok these are things that happen even if the center is a little weird. Proceed on our journey ... It fell another in the same place. Can not be a coincidence. Yet another. We begin to worry. News overlap and confuse us by throwing himself in a strange panic. What's going on?
At 8:47 of Tuesday, September 11, 2001 America there was a morning like so many. A minute later the hate down with all his ferocity in New York, on America and the world. Towers affected smoke and flames erupted, the eyes of people wonder and disbelief.
When the towers collapsed, the whole world was watching TV and looked stunned as smoking rubble that buried forever hundreds of people and dreams. Buried forever the certainties of millions of people. Buried forever the world we had known until then.
Who had unleashed hell? And why? Names and faces of perpetrators were ready quickly, too quickly. It was possible that an efficient intelligence apparatus so as to identify the perpetrators within hours of the disaster, was so negligent by failing to prevent it?
A thousand doubts, many questions were crowded in those days, in the minds of the Peoples of the Earth, but his eyes could only ever see pictures of people who rushed from the burning skyscrapers.
Arriving in Budapest all TVs in the world continuously transmitted those images of terror. We saw harrowing scenes rated in all the languages of the world and us, silent, beyond the plastic box to ask if it was all true. If it was just a bad dream or if indeed the man was mad. But until that point?
September 12, 2001 Budapest (HUNGARY)
The twenty-second day of my birthday I spend with Nino and some Hungarian friends, still shaken by the various news from the United States. Something has changed.
