My visit to Dublin, Christmas gift for my boyfriend, would coincide with the festivities of New Year. Unfortunately, for various reasons but skipped the trip we were able to reorganize it for Easter. How to say ... in the end it was good not to be left in January! The temperatures would be prohibitive and probably the proverbial bad weather in Ireland would give their best in the wettest month!
In April, however, although there was certainly hot, we enjoyed two days of amazing sunshine (just a fleeting time on the first day!), And was able to visit a city like Dublin austere in an explosion of colors and flowers! I realized that if you can, spring is the best season to travel! It makes the city magical!
Ryanair flight back Cagliari-Milan Orio al Serio-Dublin, we had no problems with luggage (because of the taxation of the company is also on hand luggage: everything, even the smallest purse and camera must be within the trolleys!) and we even landed early! The airport is about 20 minutes by bus from Dublin and a service available 24 hours ago 24 continually shuttling between the airport (one tip: do not underestimate its size! It 's very big!) And the city center, 9 euro round trip up to O'Connell Street.
Accommodation: Amberley House, Lower Gardiner Street, the main road parallel to O'Connell Street, then right in the center. I would highly recommend the arrangement for the location (within walking distance and reach any goal!), For the kindness of the staff, the value for money: we paid about 35 euro per person per night and we had a spacious room, clean with private bathroom! Of course, you consider that you will not find guest house in Carrara marble or some kind of unbridled luxury, but assuming that the hotel only serves to wash and sleep, Amberley House is completely up to the requests! We also had breakfast included and there was a choice between that and the typical continental buffet-Irish, with bacon, eggs and sausage with the beans in a sauce strange! Remember to bring a jack adapter: Fortunately, the staff has provided me an adapter, since I'd forgotten!
City: With regard to transport, Dublin is very small and all the main monuments are nearby and easily reached on foot. Wanting to experience the thrill of getting on a mythical yellow double-decker bus, "cousin" of the red London, the price varies depending on the destination you want to achieve and the amount to be paid directly to the driver.
To see clearly the Trinity College, beautiful, beautiful parks of St Stephen's Green and Merrion Square, with the Georgian Quarter, Grafton Street, Temple Bar, the beautiful church of Christ Church and St Patrick, the brewery with the Guinness Gravity Bar! The churches and the brewery are to be paid but there are discounts for students, and between the other cards I have never asked my students to actually prove to be a student.
My personal impressions? Dublin is a young and vibrant city and certainly much more human scale of other European capitals. I was always curious to "try out 'a bit of Ireland and the Irish as a people, were well above my expectations, with their perpetual need to go out and their friendliness. As for the city, deserves but I must admit that not one of my favorites! two days is more than enough, unless you decide to also make the trips, perhaps to discover the magic of the Irish countryside!
