In 1996, I, my wife and a group of friends, all in nine, we went in green Ireland.

Landed in Dublin with a flight from Milan have now taken possession of a rented van, 9 seats for the hit and took the lead with confidence to the left, we immediately went to find accommodation. Travel in groups, so many species, it is always nice (especially for me who love to travel solo), and when you are looking for where to stay course we must distribute in different places, obviously in bed & breakfast or hostels.

Fortunately, the Irish are an availability that is close to impossible and you may well encounter people who tire to find a decent accommodation with friends and acquaintances, and accompanying them personally by phone.

Dublin is a beautiful capital: beautiful O'Connell Street until you cross O'Connell Bridge to the south and then to come to Trinity College, Grafton Strret from there where there are several musicians; on Dame Street, you can log on to Dublin Castle. And the evening's entertainment from the premises of Temple Bar to drink Guinness and whiskey to the will of quality (and Tullamore Dew Tyrconnell among my favorites). Interesting also to tour the Guinness factory.

We leave Dublin and we head south on N81. A beautiful Glendalough is a monastic complex to see the sixth century. D.C. , With a distinctive Irish cemetery. We head to Kilkenny, famous for its medieval castle and its wonderful beer. We continue southwards towards Cashel to visit the famous fortress, which according to legend would be a huge rock fall at the mouth of hell at the sight of St. Patrick. Visit the Cormac 'Chapel and the cross of St. Patrick.

Continuing south we arrive at Cahir where you can see the famous castle sull'isolotto rock on the river Suir, which is famous for the many times in films such as Bravehearth, Barry Lindon, Exalibur, ...). In the evening we arrived in Cork, a port city south of Ireland is not particularly beautiful if not for the night life in pubs. They remember in particular one to be exclusively attended by over 70 really nice and talkative and not lose the opportunity to feel the girls of our group.

We continue towards the west to Kenmare, and directly over the entry point of the Ring of Kerry, not to visit instead to the head of the Dingle peninsula.

We pass on to Killarney and Killorglin take the R561 which leads us into the Dingle. Here the landscape is beautiful and wild. People still speak Gaelic to each other and the signs are written in this ancient language as incomprehensible. Sheep everywhere, there are an absurd amount, and you need not sweat to invest in these streets.

On the R559 you can see the beautiful cliffs of Slea Head and, if the day allows, you can see the Basket Islands. Smerwick move towards the strong Dun an oir. The entire area surrounding the R559 is beautiful and should be seen calmly.

We leave from Dingle via Tralee to Limerick. The Bunratty Castle is very beautiful but not visit the inside with the Bunratty Folk, ancient village rebuilt, because it's all very tourist-style amusement park. Limerick does not offer much apart from the view of the river Shannon, then continue towards the west of the island in the direction of the Cliffs Of Moher, the most famous cliffs of Ireland. Spectacular and windy, there is not that dire. The council is to move away from the crowds of tourists and climbs in the most quiet, although prohibited, in order to enjoy the visual impact.

Doolin A part of the group has embarked on the Aran Islands. One party prefers to visit this part of the island, really beautiful. A Doolin is a wonderful pub, the Gus O'Connor's, where you can drink good beer (Guinness or Murphy also wonderful) and listen to good live music. The whole area of the Burren is fantastic and should be traveled far and wide.

Let for Galway, very quickly, to enter the area of Connemara. The R341 towards Clifden is wonderful: very small roads, sheep, rocks, meadows and lakes are the only images to our eyes. Not a house, not a person for miles. The few times it comes to finding a house is an opportunity to stop and exchange words with four nice people that instantly give you anything to eat.

In this area we visited Kylemore Abbey, an abbey, now nunnery, situated in a fantastic place in front of a small lake, the Connemara National Park where there are some beautiful hikes.

We leave this area very reluctantly to go back to Dublin on the N4 coupon. Surely be a memory to all the families who hosted us with a fantastic breakfast that will be difficult to equate, in addition to the magic that certainly gives this land full of music and beautiful landscapes.
