A different day during a happy holiday at the seaside in Maremma, Tuscany
A diversion to a quiet beach holiday.
With a multitude of grandchildren, we are on holiday on the coast of north of the promontory of Argentario Giannella,
in the municipality of Santo Stefano.
Several times along the Via Cassia, crossing the junction to Mount Amiata, are stung by the desire
to turn to visit the mountain, but I always deferred to the next trip, now that, on holiday, are not more closely since, I have the opportunity to implement my project.
I leave my grandmother, mothers and babes on the beach, I mount on my Ducati Monster 620 and go!
I walk the road to Albinia the pillow, the service center around, but without special attractions,
entrance to the highway Maremma paths just over three and a half kilometers, stalk on the SP 160.
If up to now the course of the road was straight and composed of low slope, now begins a
series of climbs, twists and turns. The landscape is nice, hills, rolling green hills, villages characteristic
the first of which Magliano in Tuscany, with its tower, letting my right. The village
next: Pereta not want to visit. Old village surrounded by walls and dominated, needless to say, from a high
tower. In the next center is not less deserving, Scansano, home of the famous Morellino, I do not stop, even
if I would be tempted to stop at wineries in order to procure a few bottles, but supersedes, the bike
is not ideal to carry the entire system.
I can not arrest me Roccalbegna pretty town that stands, the 500 meters at the foot of two towering cliffs,
pleasant town for the natural environment, the 'urban layout and architecture.
Passed this village begins the climb to Monte Amiata true between beautiful beech forests
and chestnut trees, which provides an attractive environment, which, however, opposed to, the barrier to the prospects
long. My path is essentially that of a motorcycle, if I had long, now Amiata,
My short climb on foot, on the top since I could probably enjoy the vast panorama that I guess
range bird from the Argentario and beyond.
On the return journey back, I accelerate a little, I want to return to Giannella's still time for a bath,
I plan to return to visit the most interesting towns on the route, the project is no longer implemented.
Twists and turns make fun ride in motion. Do not visit Santa Fiora, who deserves what I read
a thorough examination, I can not miss at least a brief stop in Sorano, which I have visited and very
years ago and appreciated in Pitigliano.
Sora stands out for its location in a diverse landscape, proudly perched on landslides and
valleys. They are interesting road journeys by the soldiers dug in deep grooves in the tufa, which
seem to date back to the Etruscan period. Just a little less than all features of Pitigliano, perhaps
more monumental architecture.
Down towards the sea returns to smoother paths, tracing the path from Albinia the first leg.
