Reluctantly we leave the marshes to the second part of our holiday, Tuscia. First stop Vulci (http://www.Vulci.it/) Etrursca ancient city, built on a limestone platform on the right bank of the river Fiora. Situated in Maremma Lazio Vulci was undoubtedly one of the largest city-states, we can still admire the remains of roads, temples and dwellings as well as important tombs as the tomb of Francois and the inscriptions. The archaeological park is very large we opted for the shortest (2 hours) that still sums up of what is important to see. Our itinerary included a first part called archaeological tour of ancient city, we were very impressed with cobbled streets, the remains of the temple but also the Mitreo of which we had heard in a statement broadcast. The second part defined nature has brought us to the pond of the film, very special and spectacular. We could instead visit the grave because Francois is not always open. At the entrance of the park is a beautiful castle became home to the archaeological museum where you can see inside the beautiful vases and the entire burial tomb of Panatenaica. Before the castle the Devil's Bridge built by the Romans and which divides territtori Montaldo di Castro and Canino. Vulci start from the time of Tuscania where we had booked a room at the 'hostel building Ranucci. We arrive early afternoon and since the hostel opened at 17 we decided to visit the city. Of course our first visit to the 2 churches that are a little symbol of Tuscania or the church of Santa Maria Maggiore and San Pietro in Tuscania, it is indeed remarkable and we were really impressed by themselves worth the trip up here. After the visit we had a nice tour to the archaeological museum located nell''ex convent of S. Mary's Rest just outside the walls of Tuscania that has a rich collection of sarcophagi, many of whom belonged to the same family of Corunas, there could be instead of the Queen visit the cave because of rain.

But it's late and are tired the day was intense and we look forward to rest and then we head to the palace Ranucci located in the historic center so to speak within the walls. Our impression was very positive, the building is very ancient and distinctive, the room they gave us was large and comfortable with a nice bed for baby, bath and TV room and the opportunity to dine in the restaurant right in the agreement building with a surcharge of 15 euros per person (first, second and drinks included), all for 47 euros per night! ! After we rested we decide to do a ride through the historic center which is one of the most beautiful of Lazio. Back at the hotel a pleasant surprise the stairs of Palazzo Ranucci were all lit with candles that light up the restaurant for its customers and therefore we have also benefited us. The next morning after a hearty breakfast at the bar of the Cathedral we go back in time to travel this time of Tarquinia, another pleasant surprise for us. At Tarquinia you can visit the painted tombs there are some very beautiful like the leopard or jugglers. Matthew has a lot of fun to go down with us and turn all the lights to illuminate the graves. Admission free again (see week of culture) as well as the archaeological museum that is truly beautiful as is the original building Vitelleschi Palace. Here ends our holiday we reluctantly left many things behind as Caprarola, Bagnaia, Viterbo Bomarzo and so we promised to return as soon as possible.
